Foreword “All the world's a stage and all the men and women merely players, were the words of the immortal Shakes- peare. How true this time-worn phrase is as applied to our Bolton High! Tall and majestic, Bolton is a fitting setting for a major production with a star-studded cast. Every room and every corridor is equipped with material that enables the cast to disolay its talents unhindered. A beautiful setting is not the only requisite of a successful play. Performances must be smoothly rend- ered. And though this is not always possible in a play with so large a cast, it is felt by all of us that the result obtained through the united efforts of the students who are the actors and the teachers who are the directors has proved most satisfactory. For while our play shows tears, it also reveals laughter; while it shows shameful failure, it also displays brilliant triumph. Thus we have reason to feel proud of the student and faculty coopera- tion that made possible this play whose sold purpose is to put the unexcelled ability of the cast to useful purpose. In this, the fifteenth edition of the Bruin, the staff has endeavored to review the play of school life as it moves forward from 1939 into 1940, and each member sincerely hopes these efforts merit your applause.
