The Bolivar Liberators had another good basketball season, compiling an impressive 26 - 6 record. With only one starter back from last year's State Championship team, the Liberators were an inexperienced squad. How- ever you could see the Liberators improve with every game. Bolivar won championship trophies in the Humansville and Bolivar Tournaments and the Polk County Conference. They placed second in the Blue and Gold Tournament and the Bolivar Regional. Three of the losses were suffered in the powerful Skyline conference, where the Liberators placed third. Bolivar used good defense, good rebounding, and good shooting to compile this fine record. Howard Robertson led the scoring with 444 points for a 14. 3 average. He was followed by Captain Robert Hammons who scored 398 points for a 12.4 average and Charles Ruyle who scored 845 points for a 10.8 average. Charles Ruyle and Robert Richner led the rebounding with 260 and 225 respectively. Bolivar out scored the opposition 1989 to 1421, a point spread of 14.6 points a game.
