Introducing the 1985 Gusher Bolivar Central School 100 School Street Bolivar, New York Volume 46 Dedication The senior class of 1985 proudly dedicates this yearbook to a man who has been assisting us since seventh grade in the quest for an understanding of history. He is well known for always telling us stories of when he was younger, which is one of the many things we will miss. In the past four years, he has played a very important part in our lives by serving as one of our class advisors. Under his leadership, we have grown and learned a great deal. Therefore, Mr. Wolcott, it is with extreme pleasure that we honor you with our Gusher. This dedication is just a small token of our appreciation, for in this way we wish to say to you, “Thank you very much.” 2 Appreciation The class of 1985 wishes to extend to both of our class advisors our sincerest appreciation for the parts they played as our teachers, instructors, and friends. You did, indeed, help keep our class meetings and records of our fund-raisers in order. You helped make our high school years very enjoyable. We are extremely grateful to you for your efforts and consideration, Miss Lindquist and Mr. Wolcott. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. GOOD LUCK TO THE CLASS OF ’85 BOLIVAR AMERICAN LEGION AND AUXILIARY KENYON ANDRUS POST 772 Bolivar, New York In Memory of Rick We saw a star in the sky, Twinkling ever so bright, As if it was winking only at us And said, “Notice me tonight.” Many stars were gathered around Beautiful as could be But they sparkled not nearly as much As the one shining, which was thee. Thinking of you is a special time With a special warmth in our hearts, And each year that passes by Is one more year apart. I The memory of you is just as strong Today, as in the past, And we wish that we could tell you That our love will always last. Things aren’t like they used to be, Not at all anymore, Without you here, there will always be Just another closed door. We know God looks after us And heals our hurt in time, But, Rick, if we could only see you. It would ease our hearts for just a time. We know you’re up there shining Just like you used to do, And we know that you knew There’d be a special poem, just for you. DiTANNA PAUL PARKS GUIDANCE PRINCIPAL 100 SCHOOL STREET BOLIVAR. NV 14715 June 1985 Dear Seniors: George Leonard in his book Education and Ecstasy says, To learn is to change. Education is a process that changes the learner.... I hope that the past thirteen years have allowed you to change and to grow so you can meet the challenges that are ahead. For many of you, formal schooling will continue at the college or university level. For others, the world of work or military service will be in the future. For all of you, the process of education will continue, as education is a lifelong journey. The author George Woodberry once said, Education has really only one basic factor -one must want it! I hope we at Bolivar Central School have given you the desire to want it. Use the skills and knowledges you have acquired at B.C.S. to learn more about the world in which you live. My very best to the class of 1985 and I wish you much happiness and success in whatever you do. With warm regards Thomas E. Boedicker Superintendent of Schools TEB:cg u We, the Class of 1985, wish to express our sincerest thanks and gratitude for all the help you have given us through the years. Your thoughtfulness, willingness, and patience have all been recognized and will never be forgotten. We greatly appreciate the time you have spent teaching and preparing us for what comes after graduation. We thank all of you who have done so much, such as being a homeroom teacher, chaperoning a dance, or helping with a musical. These were some of the best years of our lives, and we are happy to have shared them with you. We will miss all of you dearly. They both made numerous friends and participated in many activities. Paco stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Bosworth of Richburg. He was on our football team and helped the team out a great deal when they needed a kicker. Before joining the ski club, Paco was also on the wrestling team, a sport he mastered quite well. Elin stayed with Brenda Witter of Bolivar. She was on the girls’ tennis team and basketball cheerleading squad. Elin went on a ski trip sponsored by her exchange program to Lake Placid and also joined the ski club. She participated in a cake decorating contest and received high honors. Everyone here at BCS wishes you farewell, Elin and Paco. We give to you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
