nie LANE ine x Rod ‘A lh ‘ F94, Dedication Mrs. Evangeline F. Voung The “Gusher” is annually dedicated to some deserving member of the school staff who has shown hard work and unlimited concern for the welfare of the students. This year, the Class of 1971 is proud to ded- icate this “Gusher” to Mrs. Evangeline F. Young. Throughout her 18 years of teaching, she has shown the ideas and qualities of an outstand- ing teacher. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to Mrs. Young, who has brightened the everyday monotony of the classroom with the help of music. | To the 1971 Senior Class: Our best wishes for your success and happiness in the years to come —may your hopes and dreams come true for the benefit of all mankind. Graduation is an important indication of your achievement and dedi- cation to a task—make it the first stepping stone for a full and successful life. The foundation blocks have been carefully placed. Continue to apply yourself—the rewards are unlimited. Every generation strives for a change and succeeds, but as the pace quickens, do not lose sight of the responsibilities we all have to main- tain this great country of ours. The hopes for the future must be sound because we are constantly building—not destroying. The Challenge is yours. Our very best wishes for the fulfillment of all your dreams. | one E George Kuhn Supervising Principal Sincerely, GK dw In Memoriam Mrs. Marjorie Thomsett In the spring of 1970, Bolivar Central School was shocked to learn of the tragic death of Mrs. Marjorie Thomsett. Her many years of teaching Home Economics and her dedication to her students will not be forgotten. Lou Anne Lindquist The Class of 1971 was saddened by the death of a fellow classmate during our 1960-61 school year. Even though she was only witli us for a few years, her memory is still present. Unchanging would have to be the word for the Bolivar Bulldog football team of 1970 as it produced a 2 win, 5 loss season, matching that of the last three years. Injuries to to John Greene and Lance Shaner before the season started were part of the reason, but there were also many other big factors. The Seniors on the squad include Duane Sherwood, Dan Adams, Bowler Day, Lance Shaner, Kelly Monahan, Ray Allen, Mike Smith, John Greene, Dan Fuller, Marty Torry, Jim Day, Don Pinney, and Bob Blauvelt. Hopefuls for next year’s team are Rodney Fitch, Steve Yehl, Bob Salzer, Barry Church, Kevin Ezell, Don Paffie, Joe Molisani, Rick Cornelius, Mark Crowley, and Steve Hosmer. Good luck in 1971! SECOND ROW: Alton Thurston, Tom Wight, Tom Bentley, Marty Monahan, Jim Sullivan, Rick Fulton, Coach Stabley. Coach Stabley must feel a great amount of encouragement after his 1970 Cross Country Harriers turned in their best year ever. Captain Lester Gregg sparked the extremely young team along with Detlef Barth, John Allen, Doug Mitchell, Gary Mergler, Jim Grey, and John Wight. John Allen is the only one to be lost from next year’s team. The Harriers turned ina 26-13 dual competition record with a 6th-place finish out of 12 teams in the Conference. Although some of his Jr. High runners will be lost to football next year, Coach Stabley feels that next year will be the peak of a three-year building program and his Harriers should be contenders for years to come. All the luck in the world to next year’s team. COMPLIMENTS OF FERRIS AND FORBES HILTON INSURANCE BOLIVAR LIQUOR STORE APPLEBY’S RED AND WHITE 50 Wrestlers smn De ROW: T. Matched against all the powerhouses of last year’s Alle- gheny “C” League, the Bulldogs displayed both hustle and attitude in their hopes to gain one of the two play-off berths in this year’s set-up. Coach Lindamer’s cagers inspired by the re- newed spirit from the Bulldog fans, provided all the excitement necessary for a great season. For this we are proud of them and congratulate them for their high school performances. BEST WISHES FROM FIRST TRUST UNION BANK BLUMENTHAL’S SPORTING GOODS Bolivar, N. Y. Olean, N. With Marty Tor- rey, Rick Cornelius, and Ritchie Torrey in the sprints, John Green and Kelly Monahan in the hurdles, Detlef Barth, Lester Gregg, Don Paffie, and Joe Molisani running the distances, and Mark Crowley, Lance Sha- ner, Jim Hungerford, and Steve Yehl in the field events, Coach Dun- ning’s cindermen have set their sights for the magic number “9”’. Let’s wish them all the luck in the world and congratulate them for their re- markable success over the last eight years. GOOD LUCK CLASS OF 1971 KNACK RICHARDS, INC. DEMPSEY PIPE SUPPLY, INC. COLOR SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHY SINCE 1884 4 CHECKTOWAGA, N.Y. BOLIVAR, N.Y. Baseball Coach Lindamer’s Bolivar Bulldogs are anticipating what could be termed as a “REVENGE” seaso in the Allegheny Class “‘C”’ Baseball League in 1971. After last year’s humiliating defeat at the hands of Elba in the playoffs, the Bulldogs hope to put it all together. Losing strength only on the mound parts of the infield, the experience necessary for a great season is certainly present this year. Let’s hope so, wish the Bull- dogs lots of luck for the coming seasons. cae, | 2 PS NG, _ FIRST ROW-R. Childs, J. Green, D. Fuller, S. Yehl, M. Crowley, L. Shaner, M. Torrey, K. Monahan, D.
