Crowley We, the Senior Class of 1970, proudly dedicate this year’s Gusher to Mr. Robert Crowley. Throughout his eighteen years of teaching at Bolivar, he has spent many hours of his time as advisor of the yearbook staff. Tiie theme from our kindergarten graduation “On the Good Ship Lollipop” still lingers on. The Fifth Grade Courier gave our superb talent a chance to surface but our four years in high school are what we’ll remember most. From the mad scramble for Christmas cards to the endless detention nights, from popping twenty million kernels of popcorn for the concession stand to the chair in Mr. Brinnier’s office, from the turtle races at the penny carnival to the crowding in the lunch line, from the cheering at the basketball games to the fab play parties, from the eraser fights in homeroom to THE ONE AND ONLY “Senior Skip Day,” from the trip to D. C. to the grand finale-graduation. Ah, yes, we’ll remember it well. 20 21 CARL STEVEN CHILDS STEVEN PAUL CRADDUCK CHARLES EUGENE CLARK SUSAN JANE CRADDUCK We Have Only WILLIAM EDGAR COWLES J Our Achievement Vitality and Hang Our Fate in the World. Sponsored by the Future Teachers in conjunction with International Fellowship, they have served as excellent goodwill ambassadors from their countries. Maria stayed with the Robert Buell family and Rafael made his home at the Alyn Shatters during his visit. Next year Rafael’s “You’re too cool for me” and Maria’s “hey, baby!” will be sadly missed by BCS students. We hope this visit to Bolivar will not be their last. 50 Football-1969 FIRST ROW: G. Next years team could be one of the best ever with returning lettermen: Marty Torrey, John Greene, Kelly Monahan, Lance Shaner, Jimmy Day, Ray Allen, Don Paffie, and Bob Blauvelt. They finished with a 5-13 record overall and a 3-9 league mark. The small but aggressive Bulldogs lost many hair raisers. Even while going through a losing season the morale stayed high and the students were always behind the team. Their record. 3 wins and 7 losses is very deceiving because they lost many “fain barners.” Bolivar also produced many consistent winners among them were: Dan Adams-107, Steve Childs-123, Ray Allen— 130, and Steve Cradduck—145, with only two regulars leaving, Bolivar can look for a strong team next year. 61 Cheerleaders VARSITY Monica Crowley—Captain, Paige Dunning, Diane Girnik, Peg Salzer, Patty Erwin. 62 JUNIOR VARSITY-Eileen Girnik—Captain, Sue Kreanter, Pam Monroe, Barb Jandrew, Absent-Jenny Cummings. This year’s Student Council Officers were: Susan Girnik— President, Kelly Monahan—Vice-President, Linda Cummings —Secretary, and Amy Buell-Treasurer. Our exchange students, Raphael and Maria also served as members on the council. The Council started the year with a bake sale and a fall dance. In October they attended a conference at Alfred University where they met with area schools for various occasions. On Moratorium Day money was collected to help feed hungry children. Still another worthwhile project, the council accomplished was the organizing of a book-drive for needy Indian and poverty stricken children. The Student Council would like to thank the students of B.C.S. for all their help and cooperation during the school year. Best wishes to next year’s council. JUNIOR HIGH REPRESENTATIVES: B. Sloat, R. Fitch; L. Cummings, D. Waterman-President. Scholarship, Leadership, Character and Service seem to be the only things about the National Honor Society that haven’t changed in the past school year. The members although a small group, attended two conferences, or meetings-in Alfred and Buffalo. Bolivar even hosted a conference for area schools in April, and had a huge turnout. The Society sold programs at the basketball home games. The induction ceremony occurred twice for the National Honor Society. The one in December was for the entrance of new Senior members. This ceremony was changed around, too, although the most change occurred in the spring induction, where deserving Juniors joined the high ranks of the society. A completely different setting greeted the audience for this last induction. All in all, the Society made it quite a year-one that later Chapters will have to work hard to equal. 67 Future Teachers FIRST ROW: J. Day, D. Girnik. D. Mitchell, V. Gates. P. Salzer. J. Irvin, S. Thanks to last year's hard working Future Teachers Club, we now sponsor an exchange student program. This year, we had two Latin American students visiting our school. They were: Raphael Reyes of Mexico City. Mexico, and Maria Ortega of El Salvador, San Salvador. Again this year we were busy raising money for the exchange program and our scholarship award. To interest students in teaching, our members were allowed to observe classes. On Teacher Recognition Day they taught in classes of their choice. With all these activities we still found time to attend RAFT and Slate Future Teachers conferences. Mrs. Manning-Advisor. J. Day-President. Mrs. Kroh—Advisor, P. Salzer—Parliamentarian, B.
