Optical Mechanics is the trade of the tech' nician engaged in the production of optical instruments and appliances for the aid, cor' rection, or protection of human vision. The optical technician is skilled in the neutralizing, centering, and laying off of lenses, surface grinding, edge grinding, frame bending and trusing, inserting and mounting lenses into supporting materials, and soldering. He makes glasses and spectacles according to prescription. Students of the optical mechanics course are trained in all of the above branches of the trade. Training includes practical instrucf tion in hand bench work, neutralizing of lenses and acquiring knowledge of the differ' ent forms and of the theory of lenses. Although the emphasis in the course is on the manufacture and adjustment of glasses and spectacles, students also receive experif ence in the repair and adjustment of various other optical instruments, such as micro' scopes, cameras, and fine precision instru' ments used by oculists and optical technicians. ...as hard as steel . .. ' Two Grxittvsx oF Yixox . . . 0 . . ln the life of a community, the plumbing trade holds a very important place because plumbing and heating are essential to health and provide better living under modern conditions. Not only does the operation of our water, sewer, and drainage systems depend upon the plumbers skill, but also large buildings could not be maintained if plumbers did not install and keep in order the sanitation systems required. The occupation of plumber involves three general types of work: the laying of water, sewer, and gas pipes from the street to the buildings: the installation of bathtubs, bowls. showers, sinks, drains, etc.: the repair of bathroom and kitchen fixtures, frozen pipes, and the like. Take up hzs mangled matter at the best. LHTHLLLO
