Among other things, the industrial might of this nation has done more to put us in the forefront of nations than any other single achievement. Bok Vocational Technical School prides itself, in its relatively short history, on the fact that it has trained hundreds of young men and women in their chosen trades. These young people are daily taking their places in industry, government and the armed services of our Country. It is to them that the teachers, parents and governmental leaders look for the needed strength of a working Democracy. It is the youth of America who must, in the final analysis carry on the heritage of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. M. E. T IX rg ff-J O 1954 It has taken us three years to complete our train- ing at Bok Vocational Technical School. As we look back they have been short years, much shorter than they appeared to us when we first sat in the school auditorium and were introduced to our new teachers. Yes, we can truthfully say that for the most part they have been happy years. We worked hard to attain a basic training in our chosen trades, we played vigorously on our school teams and fought against each other in intra-mural competition on the baseball diamond and the basketball court. Few of us failed to take advantage of the noonfday movies and dances. If the old adage, All work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy, holds true, then there must be very few Johnnies on the following pages. We know that our memories of Bok will be pleasant ones and we sincerely hope that our teach' ers will remember us as we know we will remember them. We further hope that many of the close friendships we made during our school life will be permanent ones and perhaps increase with our maturity. A modern adaptation of Die Fledermaus' re- named Tl1e Golden Butterfly was pre- sented in the school auditorium under the direction of Mr. Capkin and Mr. Giusini. With the music of Johann Strauss as a background the hilarious plot unfolded and received the plaudits of the highly entertained audience. Those who attended the performance will long remember the comic Dr. Blind CRomeo Alessioj, the extremely proper butler fAnthony Markj, the suave Mr. Orlofsky Uohn Paganoj, the provocative Mitzi La Tour QMarian Brunoj, the naive Bertie fDon Hendrick- sonj, the formidable Mrs. Blind QTheresa Lutzj, the vivacious Adele fMargie Harrisj, the personable Rosalinda and julie QCathy Fera and Rosa Lee Boonej, and the mundane Frederick and Joseph fstanley Milgram and Horace Rogersj. All took part in making the lyrics, melo- dies, and incidents unforgettable. The beautifully costumed waltzers and singers added a mardi gras atmosphere to the entire play.
