Wa ' he Valkyries are a group ot sophomore girls chosen for their depend- ability, initiative, scholarship, and participation in activities. Their pur- pose is to foster a spirit of competiton and friendliness on the campus. Among their activities and projects were ushering, filling a Thanks- giving basket, decorating the Christmas tree in the main hall, caroling, and co-operating with the Intercollegiate Knights on the camival. The Valkyries also built the iirst place iloat for Homecoming this year. Leading the activities were president, Nancy Wandell: vice-president and treasurer, Ioan Woodward: secretary, Mary Grabner: historian, Ferne Schwager: book store chairman, Iackie O'Too1e. I I orking to promote a concern for world affairs through local action is the purpose of the International Relations Club. It is composed of students who are interested in a better acquaintance with some of the main national and international trends. The club, meeting every Friday noon in the Union. helped sponsor the World University Service, featured student speakers and discussions at weekly meetings, and held evening pot luck dinners to hear guest speakers. Officers this year backed by the advisorship of Miss McBirney were: Fred Sower. president: Ron Barton, vice-president: Ann Scott. secretary: Carl Shonk. treasurer: Robbie Alworth. social chairman: Alma Humble, membership chairman.
