Qzzzff amz' Lgmaff The Ouill and Scroll is a National lournalistic Fraternity. Requirements to enter this club are very strict as the stu- dent must not only be in the upper fourth of his class, but also musf have forty column inches of published type. The majority of Boise High Schools chartered members are affiliated with the Courier or the Highlights Staff. Officers were Marilyn Stanton, president: lohn Mix, vice-president, and Beatrice Lucht, secretary-treasurer. Other members were Robert Newhouse, Drew Field, Steve Emerine, Colleen Thompson, Tammy Ogden, Carolyn Can- non, Allison l.eRouX, Pat Knights, and Nancy Eberle. First semester advisor was Paul Peterson who was recalled into the Navy. Mr. Lumir Gerner took his place the second semester. As the club is an honorary one, meetings were devoted to initiations and social activities. W 66715 The feminine equivalent to the boys' Hi-Y club is the Y-Teens. Every high school girl is eligible for membership in this club and every member is given an active part in the organization. December was the busy month for the Y-Teens, as they collected for their chocolates for Christmas project, and also sponsored a toint Hi-Y, Y-Teen caroling party. W'hen Youth Legislature rolled around in the spring, the YvTeens were host to the politicians in the form of the 'Cov- ernor's Ball. This event was held at the Youth Center and displayed the kindness and hospitality extended to the out-of-town visitors by the Y-Teens, The officers for the '52-'53 school year are Barbara Vtfeisshaupt, president, Pat Dolan, vice-president, Pats Harrington, secretary, Lois Hiner, recording secretary, and Pat Knights, treasurer. Fxperiencing its third year as an organization under the auspices of the English department, the Future Teachers of America es'ablished itself in Boise High. With the qU1'if1IV'9 of Mrs. Clare Brfzcken and Mr. Arthur Hayes, the lub instigated new ifievis 'ind 'J 'gu'1int'inr:es 'hat benefitted 'ill 'he members. An exchange teacher from Scotland was one of the Zngny speakers, and the cQub wus inv1'ed to 'itend several james, one of '.-xhicr. '.'.'f.is sponsored by ':,e F.T..ll.. ntrapter cf B.l.C.
