STUDENT CGUNCIL Durmg the past year the Student Councll has planned and promoted many protects under the capable leadershlp of Student Body Prestdent Bob Schwarz The 1n1t1al undertaklng of the school year was an 1ntroductory assembly 1n wh1ch the f1V6 pr1nc1pal members of the Student Counctl new faculty members and presldents of the var1ous school organ1zat1ons were presented Fred Grxffm was appolnted assembly cha1rman w1th the dut1es ot plann1ng and superv1s1ng to a large extent all assembl1es Upon graduat1ng on the term1nat1on of the f1rst semester Fred was succeeded by hm Thompson the capable v1ce prestdent Btll Hochstrasser 1un1or assumed Fred s posrtlon as treasurer Co chalrmen of the all school m1xer an annual affalr sponsored for the purpose of openlng the school act1v1t1es were Margaret Davls and Evelyn Adams School Daze was the unusual theme of th1s dance Shortly after the aforementloned m1xer an annual elect1on for cheer leaders and class offlcers for the school year was held At th1s t1me new sweaters were purchased for the tour cheer leaders Bo1se Hlgh trophles were brought to the Councll s attentlon at one of the1r meetmgs all members soon busled themselves w1th brushes and s1lver pol1sh Thereafter the br1ghtly shlmng cups could be vlewed behlnd the1r glass doors At the suggest1on of M1ss Helen Moore faculty advtser to the Student Counc1l new cases have been ordered for a more suttable d1splay of the troph1es These wtll be ready for use next year Ably ass1sted by the Mlnute Malds and advlsers the Student Counc1l conducted the largest stamp and bond sales of all prevtous years Bo1se Hlgh challenged Nampa and Caldwell to a contest under the d1rect1on of B1ll Koelsch whtle at the same t1me an advrsory contest was carrled on to a1d 1n promotmg compet1t1on to st1mulate sales Termxnatlng thxs contest was an auctnon co cha1rmened by Evelyn Adams and Margaret DGVIS wh1ch brought about the largest s1ngle sale of Bo1se Hrgh s h1story Lt Praseckl of Gowen F1eld who acted as auctloneer greatly contr1buted to the success of th1s venture Var1ous awards and trophles were presented throughout the school year for excephonal servlces rendered to the Student Body The most outstandmg of these was a trophy to the champ1on Bo1se Braves football team An award was grven to Sergeant Herman Butt for h1s contr1but1on to the Bo1se Braves and a trophy to Nampa for thexr w1nn1ng the mterschool stamp and bond contest Plans have been made to remodel the Students Act1v1t1es offtce 1U Room ll2 At present new furmture has been moved 1n but the prolect w1ll be completed only when the school can get a pr1or1ty On Aprll 24 the Student Body offlcers and the counc1l adv1ser M1ss Helen Moore were 1nterv1ewed on the radlo M1ss Moore gave a very complete d1scuss1on of the year s events Fmally to termlnate a successful year the annual awards asssembly was held to g1ve athlet1c B s and the sllver B s to ma1or oftlce holders 8 f , I , , . , , , , . , , , , 1 ' ' f 1 1 f 1 . . Since every boy does not possess all these qualities, the individual does out tor the phases ol track which suit him best. This year there were several dual and three-way meets, with most ot the schools in the Boise Valley district participating. Track season was climaxed by the District Meet, which ascertains which school has the hest team. This competition is anticipated by the boys of the Boise team, who practice all season lor the bio event. The track at Boise Puhlic School Field, which is said to he the best in the state and which is kept in shape throughout the year tor all activities, was the scene ol the annual meet. The hoy on the Boise track team who secures the most points in competitive meets with other schools receives the annual Pentathlon award at the Track Awards assemhly.
