affix... What if you want to enroll, deposit money into the student body fund, put a notice in the daily bulletin, make an appointment with the principal, or send a message to a student in room 337? Or take out a handful of tickets to sell for the next Dramatic club play? These are only a few of the multitudes of details that somebody in a large high school has to be responsible for. Mrs. Alice Smith, registrar, has been taking care of enrollments for so long that she can do it almost automatically. She knows more about each individual's scholastic record than any dozen other persons put together. Miss Hazel Hotchkiss receives deposits to student body funds, and does the mimeographing-ea to mention only a few of her duties. Miss Ruth Herbert, '37, is the efficient infant of the office force. And as to delivering messages, there are girls known as orderlies who take care of endless errands and other small but necessary jobs. Across the hall from the main office, Mr. l. E. Six' commanding figure stands guard over the financial affairs of the student body. lf you know your business, these office workers are pleasant and helpful. They are the oil that makes the machinery of school life run smoothly. Hubert, Office Staff J. E. Six, Finance Hazel Hotchkiss and Ruth Mrs, Alice Smith, Regist Pg 5

Seth Freer, Dean of Boys Clara Otness, Dean of Girls Page 14 rqcffnzlnuhalian . . Boise high school lite has moved in the same well-ordered and regulated paths this year as in past years. Again, the credit must go to the school administration: Zed L. Foy principal, Seth T. Freer dean ot boys, and Miss Clara Otness dean ot girls. Students have an initiative type ot government, as their activities are governed by the ettorts they expend, but a great deal ot the planning passes through the hands ot these three. Mr. Foy heads the taculty group. lt is his duty to make arrangements tor assemblies during school hours and to schedule school attairs tor the evening. The task ot visiting incoming students and explaining the procedures ot enrollment was lightened considerably this year by absence ot a treshman class, due to the new junior high. Mr. Freer's ready wit aided him constantly in his supervision ot a study hall, detention and noon study groups . . . all of which were his specialduties. l-le acted in an advisory capacity to boys Wishing employment and to those whose work was unsatisfactory, and had charge ot delinguents. Miss Qtness, in the position ot dean ot girls, served as adviser to the Girls' club, an organi- zation made up ot all the girls in the school. She was also chairman ot the taculty social com- mittee. Grderlies, another group ot great service to the school, were also under her direction. Zed L. Fey, Principal

What it Boise high should wake up some morning with a completely new set ot teachers, all the way from benign, veteran Mr. lohn Sawyer clown to the petite Misses Dorothy Lentest and Grace lohn' ston? lt can't happen, ot course. But maybe the thought brings out more vividly the part the faculty plays in school lite. Most of these teachers have been here much longer than any student. They have their varied interests but all are interested in helping students. They have a lot to do with making school lite what it is . . . and it is, after all, a happy lite.
