B Jocks Honored At Football Banquet They were the type of football team a coach is lucky to have once every I0 or 20 years. The Lumberjacks, who were l0-l in the regular season, received awards for a job well-done at the annual Bogalusa High football banquet. Also honored were the Bogalusa Beejacks, district champions for the third consecu- tive season, and the Junior Jacks. Crlando Butter Lundie was voted the Most Valuable Player by his team- mates. Chosen permanent team captains were Mark Bennett, Clay Foreman and Bruce Plummer. The Land of Sports Sportsmanship Award went to Tony Granger. Bruce Plummer picked up the annual Goldbrick Award. Receiving plaques for making the all-district team were Wes Robertson, Jimmy Breazeale, Rogie Magee, Mark Bennett, Butter Lundie, Clay Foreman, Donnie Adams, Bruce Plummer, Sean Smith, Scott Miller. Five players received awards for making all-state: Magee, Smith, Breazeale, Lundie and Bennett. Lun- die was also honored for being named the State's Outstanding Offensive Player. Senior managers receiving awards from Buck Jordan were David Hodge and Troy Pou. 1. Butter Lundie receives his gift for Most Valuable Player, chosen by his teammates. 2. Chosen as a permanent team captain is Mark Bennett. 3. Happy to have received his award is Jimmy Breazeale. 4. Bruce Plummer, out- standing line-backer-tailback, accepts his tro- phy from Coach Murray. 5. Ready to accept his award is Clay Foreman. 6. Receiving his plaque for making All-District team is Rogie Magee. 7. The assemblage at the athletic ban- quet. 8. Sean Smith accepts his plaque for mak- ing the All-District team. 9. Jacks Honored Az Banquet TRIBUTE was paid to one of the most talented and productive senior classes in Bogalusa High history dur- ing the annual spring sports banquet. Athletes in basketball, baseball, track, tennis and golf were honored. Baseball Awards. Catcher Bruce Plummer and pitcher Al Ratliff were voted co-Most Valu- able Players. Plummer was given an award for being the leading hitter. Lance Byrd and Mike Ward were honored for being team captains. Marshall Adams won the Dedication Award. All-district picks Juan Guy, Butter Lundie, Rat- liff, Byrd, Plummer and Ward received trophies. Ratliff, Guy, Plummer, all of whom made the Class AAA all-state team, also received trophies. Ratliff was honored for being chosen MVP in 8- AAA and also for being awarded a full baseball scholarship to Southern University. Plummer re- ceived a trophy for being voted to play in the LHSAA all-star game. Ryan McGhee received a trophy for serving as the club's batboy. Donald Lewis was also honored with a manager's award. Tennis Awards. John Porretto and Annette Burns, the two seniors on the BHS tennis team, were recognized and honored by their coach, Don Williams. Basketball Awards. Sean Smith was named Most Valuable Player. Bruce Plummer and Clay Foreman were selected team captains in a vote of their teammates. Plummer and Lundie were honored for making the 8-AAA all-district first- team. Mike Brister won the Dedication Award, and the Mack Harvey Award for hard work, heart, and attitude. Lady Jack Track Awards. Sherri Fields, an outstanding sprinter. was named Most Valuable. Karen Johnson and Deborah Perkins were cho- sen as captains, Sprinters Louise Adams, Karen Johnson, Aundrea Williams, Dianne Way, and Kelia Blackburn all received trophies for scoring performances at the district and regional level. Boys' Track Awards. Rogie Magee was chosen Most Valuable in track. Magee and Jimmy Wil- liams were honored for being team captains. Pole vaulter Toby McSwain won the Daily News Olympian Award. McSwain. Sean Smith, Chris Adams and Jimmy Williams were honored for their contributions in the field events. Sprinters Reggie Curney, Keithon Brown, Stanley Pigott, Rogie Magee and Richard Payne also each re- ceived trophies and Mike Brister was recognized for his achievements in the middle distances. Mike Galloway, George Bruns and Bryant Hall, members of the mile relay team, also received trophies. Golf awards. Coach Mike Breland presented Bryan Brumfield with the Bill Wallace Memori- al Trophy. Ritchie Magee won the medalist tro- phy, and Magee and Brad Ready were honored for advancing to the state tournament. l . Sherri Fields-Lady Jack Track's Most Valu- able Player. 2.
