K' .2 W' xl fi- Jacks led only 20-16, then broke the contest open by outscoring Mt. l-Iermon 24-12 in the third quarter and 22-ll in the final pe- riod. .lacks Coast Past Mandy The Bogalusa Lumberjacks closed out the regular season with a 65-55 win over the Mandeville Skippers. This game finished the Jacks second in 8-AAA with a 9-3 re- cord. Jacks Beaten by Bulldogs The Lutcher Bulldogs, jumping on the Jacks early and often, scored an easy 58-38 triumph in the opening round of the state playoffs. The shot out to a l0-0 lead, and, at the half, led 31-21. The Jacks' first basket of the second half came at 3:40 of the third period when Bruce Plummer hit a short jumper in the lane. I. .lacks Pop Greenies The Jacks popped the Ponchatoula Green Wave 68-40 with all five starters scoring in double figures. The Jacks were sluggish in the first half, leading just l2-8 at the end of the first quarter and 22- 16 at the half. But the Jacks blew the contest wide open in the third quarter, using a full- court press to come up with numerous steals and layups. The quarter ended with Boga- lusa ahead 42-28. The lead continued to swell in the fourth quarter, reaching 65-38. Lumberjacks Nipped St. Pauls's The Lumberjacks nipped St. Paul's 38- 37 on Bruce Plummer's 23-foot jumper with ll seconds remaining. St. Paul's had an opportunity to score with four seconds left, but Rogie Magee soared high into the air to swat away a St. Paul's shot and secure the win. This game gave the .lacks a 4-0 lead in league play, and put them first in the district, as expected. Jacks Win In Overtime Matching the Jacks and the Demons is like dropping a match into a gasoline tank . . . an explosion is guaranteed. The Jacks scored a 6l-59 overtime win over the De- mons in a key District 8-AAAbattle. Victo- ry came for the .lacks with one second re- maining when Mike Brister hit a layup after taking a perfect pass from Butter Lundie. Lundie had the ball at the top of the key and was closely guarded by two Demons. He went up for what appeared to be a desperation jumper, then, at the last second, spotted Brister and softly laid the ball off the glass, as Lumberjack fans erupted in pandemonium. Pack Stuns Jacks The St. Paul Wolves, with 21 seconds remaining in the game, got a crucial three- point play, to shock the Jacks 58-56 in a District 8-AAA battle. The .lacks were in serious foul trouble throughout the contest. 1, Going for the jump ball is Chav. Pierce 2. Sean Smith looks for the rebound. 3. Blocking a shot is Brucc Plummer. 4.
