BHS Students Enjoy Cruise To Mexico Day l. Depart from Bogalusa via chartered trailways bus to Tampa, Florida for the pier of embarkation on the S.S, Veracruz. Sailed to the Yuca- tan in the late afternoon. Day 2. There were orientation and welcoming ceremonies. The rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the many ship- board activities. Night time fun at the Captain's reception. Day 3. Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Chichen-Itza. A shore excursion via ferry and chartered buses to Chichen- Itza, the most sacred city of the ancient Maya. Chichen-Irza stands ever majes- tic with its building, powerful symbols of the high degree of Mayan Civiliza- tion. We saw the Chacmool, the Cen- ote, the Platform of Death and the sa- cred Ball Court. Day 4. Cozumel. A time for snorkel- ing and scuba diving in the waters of the Caribbean as well as time for shopping and bargaining in the Mexican market places. Disco Dancing at night. Day 5. A day at sea. There were Mariachi Bands, Mexican food and live entertainment by crew and passengers. Also we had birthday celebrations for Sondra Pace and Melissa Coulon. Day 6. Key West. A tour of this de- lightful little port at the southern end of the U.S. A trolley tour of the winter homes of Audubon and Hemingway and President Truman's Little White House. Day 7. This sailing day was spent en- joying the blue-green waters, suntan- ning, swimming and preparing for the Captain's dinner in the evening. There was a farewell FIESTA. Day 8. The group disembarked at Tampa after clearing customs and col- lecting luggage-! Bogalusa-Here we come! We had a BUEN VIAJE! l. Staying as close as she can to a life prescrver is Alicia Talley. 2. During his snorkeling excursion off the coast of Cozumel, Gary Seal spots some- thing of interest. 3. Throwing confetti at depar- ture time are Susan Pusa and Mary Lee. 4. The S.S. VERACRUZ ll. 5. Ready for their Mexican cruise to begin are Toby Sheridan, Susan Pusa, and Jane Sheridan. 6. Tana Pritchard, Melissa Coulon. Tim Brown, and Sondra Pace pose by one of the pyramids in Chichen ltza. 7. Eleventh Grade: Ellie Barker, Scooter Fortenberry, Heidi Herring, Cedric Blackburn, Jill Evans, Cyn- thia Morris, Alan Dunaway Tenth Grade: Dana Ferrell, Scotty Temples, Mark Williams, Joan James, Scott Bailey, Nicki Clinton, Brenda McNeese, David Roussell Nineth Grade: Cindy Abrams, Helaina Her- ring, Sonya Ratliff, Theresa Peters, Rogie Casama, Jerry Thomas, Ethan Henry, Stanwood Bickham l. Preparing for the tug-of-war com- petition is junior Alan Dunaway. 2. Combining their efforts in the three- legged race are sophomores Scott Bailey and David Roussell. 3. Lead- ing the senior class to victory are Paul Williams and Beth Earles. 4. Aided by Mr. Mike Breland, the sopho- mores prepare for the tug-of-war. 5. Competing in the bat race is Walter Jackson. 6. Making sure everything's in place for the shopping race is Stu- dent Council member Tammy Powell. 7. Wondering if they'll sur- vive are juniors Ellie Barker and Scooter Fortenberry. 8.
