ef Those Who Work Long and Haro' Being one of the secretaries at BHS was a very complicated job, but one that Ms. Windham, Mrs. Powe, Mrs. Mitchell, and Mrs. Frazier enjoyed. Ms. Windham, the bookkeeper, han- dled the business end of the schoolg Mrs. Powe worked the front deskg while Mrs. Mitchell was Mr. Cothern's secretary. All the counselors handled the difficult task of scheduling, with the help of Mrs. Frazier, the secretary of their office. The school was run by many people, including the cafeteria workers and the janitors. The cafeteria helpers pre- pared two different lunches everyday for those who wanted to eat. There was much planning involved in order to serve the students and teachers a nutri- tious meal. The maintenance crew kept the school clean and fixed anything which needed repairs. The janitors were al- ways busy trying to keep the school in good shape. l. Mrs. Powe and Clayton Jackson enjoying a short break. 2. Lunchroom Ladies. 3. Bookkeeper- Francis Windham. 4. M EM ORIAM The Season Changes . . . The long corridor rings out again with quickened steps and the lively din of teachers' conversation and student laughter. The season changes, and the books are gathered, the bulletin boards are decorated, the desks are shined. Yet something is missing this season. One quickened step is stilled. One cheerful smile is absent. One frantic search for new materi- als-for innovative techniques-is finished. The season changes, but the quiet dedication is gone. The glad service is gone. The warmth is gone. The season changes, and Rowena Stewart Burge is gone. The season changes, but the memory lingers like a sweet essence that permeates the long corridor and enriches our day.
