Officers were elected and bids were given to all eligible students, thus making the Beta Club 57 members strong. A for- mal installation was held at the Sportman's lnn. ll Bela Phi Has Rewarding First Year The newly formed Beta Phi Service Club began its first year at HS under the leadership of Eddie Walker and John Quinn. To start the year off, the prospective members were put through initiation. Seventeen young men en- dured the test and joined Beta Phi. Beta Phi's purpose is to promote the cause of education by encouraging young men to engage in the study ofthe problems of education and the applica- tion of its principles. One ofthe club's main projects was the presentation of Mr. BHS and Miss B.H.S. Senior Paul Williams won the Mr. B.H.S. title and sophomore Tami Brown was crowned Miss B.H.S. l. Cheerleaders Were Stepping In Style in '83 The 1983 Bogalusa Lumberjack Cheerleaders consisted of 10 highly spirited young ladies.
