ll Bela Phi Has Rewarding First Year The newly formed Beta Phi Service Club began its first year at HS under the leadership of Eddie Walker and John Quinn. To start the year off, the prospective members were put through initiation. Seventeen young men en- dured the test and joined Beta Phi. Beta Phi's purpose is to promote the cause of education by encouraging young men to engage in the study ofthe problems of education and the applica- tion of its principles. One ofthe club's main projects was the presentation of Mr. BHS and Miss B.H.S. Senior Paul Williams won the Mr. B.H.S. title and sophomore Tami Brown was crowned Miss B.H.S. l. Band Enjoys Trip T0 San Antonio The Bogalusa High School Band took a very interesting trip to San Antonio, Texas. During their stay in Texas, the students and chaperons en- joyed a number of various types of activities. Among these activities were a tour of the Alamo and the Riv- er Walk while in San Antoniog a visit through Aque Springs and Wonder- world in San Marcusg their perfor- mance in the night parade in San Antoniog and a fun-filled day at AstroWorld in Houston. l.The BHS Band provides enjoyable half-time entertainment. 2. Dalton Williams plans his next step. 3. The Woodwind section concen- trates on their performance. 4. At band camp is Mark Williams and Benny Dugan. 5. Touring Aqua Springs in San Marcus, Texas highlighted the band's Texas trip. 6. The entrance to the River Walk in San Antonio, Texas. 7. The band mem- bers took a very exciting tour through Wonderland in San Marcus. 8. Everyone's ready forthe break- fast in Houston. 9. ev Beta Regroups The National Beta Club, thanks to their sponsors Mr. Seal and Ms. Stewart, began to regroup and reor- ganize this year at BHS. Officers were elected and bids were given to all eligible students, thus making the Beta Club 57 members strong. A for- mal installation was held at the Sportman's lnn. To end the year, Beta Club held a party at Mr. Randy Seal's camp. l.
