Changes Did ot Slow Us Dow lf there is one word that best describes what took place at Boerne High School in the 1984-85 school year it is change. Some of the changes created a bet- ter place while others made our life more tedious. The first change was a subtle one. BHS added to its cheerleading corp a mascot and a Freshmen Cheerleading squad. The Greyhound mascot, Kadra Dieke, added comic relief to the fight songs while the Freshmen cheered their team to victory. The construction that was instituted by the passage of the 1983 bond issue changed the face and the style of our campus during this year. The fences that sur- rounded the work, the increase of traffic, and the diminished parking area created an inconvenience that would be well worth it for the underclassmen. They would have more classrooms and generally better facilities. However, if there was one single thing that caused the most changes in our school it was House Bill 72. It did its greatest amount of changing in the area of ex- tracurricular activities. They were now limited to after school, and only to those students who passed all of their classes. That made for even harder work. The second drastic change of HB 72 was the new grading system. lt raised passing to a 70 and adjusted the other grades three times before they were finally decided upon. Along with the new grading system, came harsher attendance rules. The number of days a student was able to miss was specifically outlined. All of these changes were more than inconvenient and hard adjust to. They also created an undue i . , ' MMR Mr. Schmitt explained the revised grading system. 2 OPENING amount of pressure. At times it felt as if the world weighed on our shoulders. However, we adjusted so well to all the changes that we can best be described as GRACE UNDER PRESSURE.
