Each month ten students were selected from volunteers to spend ten days on the lakes, trails, rivers, and woodlands of Cen- tral Florida. Even though participants were often hot, cold, tired, wet, dirty, sore, and sometimes hungry, many still had fun overcoming difficult outdoor situations. According to one participant, however, the most rewarding experience was being able to take a nice, long, hot shower upon returning home. Project Self Iohnny Watts and Sue Bullington BACK: I. R. Even though all four students spoke Eng- lish quite well, adjusting to a new family, new friends, and new foods proved very challenging to them. Certainly, we hope they enjoyed their stay in the U.S., and we wish them the best of luck in whatever they do. 12 Stl1dGI1tS ll ,,,.-1' ,..-- .-. . This year school uninvolvement peaked, and a brand new Apathy Club was added to Boca Ciega. There is only one membership requirement for this club - an active disinterest in all school activities. How can a prospective member know if he meets the needed requirements? A quick look through the club section ofthis year's annual will tell. If he doesn't see his picture anywhere else, then the chances are good that he belongs in Bogie's new club. But even if a student does qualify for admission to the Apathy Club, he really shouldn't bother to come to any meetings: none of the other qualified students bothered to attend the meetings this year. The officers weren't elected this yearg no one wanted to take on the responsibility of running a club. All the club's plans had to be canceled because of lack of student involvement. And club pictures had to be taken without the club this year - members didn't bother to show up! COACH FRANK LUNN fbelowj. With only three returning starters, a new Head-coach, and a predicted record of 1-9-0, the 75-76 Varsity football season did not look very promising. However, new Head- coach Don Murray, has brought a new spirit and leadership to Boca Ciega football. Boca Ciega ended their season this year with a 2-8-0 record. The two Pirate wins were a 42-25 shellacking of Gibbs, in which Tony Ross and Willie Edwards both accounted for three touchdowns, and Iunior Brett Hayman, All-City kicker, was a perfect 7-7 against Gibbs. Following the game against Gibbs, Edwards and Ross were named the Evening Independent Co- Offensive Players of the Week. With everyone sitting on the edge of their seats and biting their fingernails, Bogie squeezed by Dixie Hollins 10- 9. With great defense led by Bill Engel, who made All-City Defense, an interception by Steve Flanigan added to a 34-yard field goal by Bret Hayman Cwhich is a school recordj, Boca Ciega managed another win- ning combination.
