These fol- lowing pages are an attempt at showing what happens when you have a college campus full of different people interacting daily with each other. Using the theory of different things for different people, the Marbeck Board gave us some fine concerts, from mellow duos to heavy rock and roll bands. We also heard some good on-campus talent through shows as during International Week. However, the highlight of the concert year was the Man!R.E.O. Speed- wagon show which packed the walls of Founder's. Since things happened that evening that didn't go along with Bluffton tra- dition and regulations, it seems doubtful that we're going to have another rock concert in the near future. Whether or not it was good or bad, the R.E.O. performance is something that will certainly linger on for awhile . . . Bluffton . Richard Weaver, Professor of Physics and Chemistry I ......f-v 1'V LaVerne Schirch, Professor of Chemistry The Science department at Blufford offers majors in Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, 'ind Physics. Also added this year was a program in Medical Technology, which involves three years at Bluffton taking certain courses and then a fourth year at a hospital school of Medical Technology . Many students use a science major from Bluffton College in preparing for further work after graduation. These may include medical fields or other health fields, ecology, also industry, or research to name only a few of the oppor- tunities open to a science major. The long awaited and much needed sci- ence building has been designed and a site has been found: its completion is expected in three to four years. Many more labs and new equipment will be available for stu- dent useg a different design in lab location will prevent leaky ceilings - a plight sometimes experienced by students in Berky Science Hall classrooms! Undoub- tedly this new facility and continued quality education offered by the science department will greatly enhance Bluffton College in the eyes of Prospective Stu- dents. The science department offers a broad range of courses for those who have spe- cific interests, but also gives an opportu- nity for those students who want a general view of what science has to offer in order to narrow down their particular interests in preparation for a vocation. The department of Economics and Business currently offers three majors. These are: Eco- nomics, Business. and Accounting. With appropriate academic work in the above majors supplemented with related courses we believe students can qualify for a wide range of opportunity in business, industry and government: or for graduate study in these and related areas. Along with the wide range of courses and Huex programs, the history depart- ment has interacted with other depart- ments and colleges in extra curricular activities throughout the year. We often wondered ourselves. However we are pleased with the outcome of the book and hope that it provides many pleasant memories for you too. A lot of time and energy has been devoted to the publication of this book and we sincerely would like to thank everyone for the long hours of work. Many people deserve a note of gratitude for the exceptional pic- tures. Special thanks to Von Hardesty for the use of the old photographs, Neil Parent for the color prints, Jerry Sauder and Yiu Cheung Lai for their many laboring hours and excellent prints, and Bev Massie, Director of Information Services for her cooperation and assistance. Editing a yearbook is not an easy taskg we deeply appreciate the guidance of Lawrence Templin, Faculty advisor, and Steve White of Taylor Publishing Company. We hope that the 1974-75 ISTA has helped to produce happy memories for you as you - LOOK BACK THROUGH TIME Judea flwwzfa 14 4 I' F4434 4 4444 4,4 '4 '44 H444 4 4 4 , .4l- 45, 1. ,, 4 44 . ,4 W 4 .44','y 1'-, 4 4.
