The writer of Proverbs states that if we acknowledge God in all of our ways. he will direct our paths. 13:63 This guidance involves constant contact with the source of our direction. Furthermore. it does not come without thought and effort on our part. This is true on both the individual and the institutional level. This direction is complicated bv the fact that not all committed institutions or committed individuals agree fully on all details of Gods direction. Somehow he permits some individuality and varietv even in his direction of committed lives. Rather than being confused bv this fact. however. we should proceed with confidence and vigor in the path which Cod directs us. believing that if we have really sought praverfullv. the wav he directs is the right wav for us. That was vagrancvl In those days of the forest We watched growing leeks Shoot up from the ground. We followed No path Or All paths. Like fugitives. we avoided the path Clobbered over by settled men Of old family trees Some afternoons We traipsed through grass And grass fields To look for poppies In those days of the fields eolores pul pose. one ITL M8mOTy . . . with us these paths he walked, and now another path he walks before us. Not long before Ed Augspurger died on March 9, he said, 'Sometimes God takes away from us now what we want so much, so that we can have better things in the future, if we can only have faith enough to believe itf, His faith, so humble, so true, lives on with those who knew him. His short life was lived for others-so they might laugh and love and learn and be. Ed displayed to the end an inner strength and an outward tranquility that sang the song of his faith. Rather than mourn, we are grateful to have been able to love him and be loved by him. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain. Six Bluffton players attained all-league status. They were: Mike Goings and Larry Stover. who were also all-league among Ohio small colleges: Willie Stemen. John Weber, Ralph Pitzer and Ken Schwarzentrauh. Besides this impressive record our own Mike Goings claimed two other titlesg he was the leading scorer of small colleges in the U. S. and ranked third in rushing among small colleges in the U. Coach Ken Mast lost six men at the beginning of the second semester. three of whom had been starters. This meant that a re- organization of the team. as well as a new challenge. was necessary to begin the new year. The team responded and seemed more determined than ever, snapping back to win four of the six games played that semester. The future is definitely promising with several freshmen and sophomores as returning lettermen for the ,63-'6-1 basket- ball season.
