The choir sang at numerous churches, made weekend tours to Chicago, Elkhart, Nappanee, eastern Ohio, and Berne, made a record, presented the Dubois Seven Last Words at Easter- time, the Christmas and Com- mencement weekend programs, and gave several concerts for area clubs and high schools. RECTIDR All right, you guys! The dream-goal of Mr. Lehman and forty of the choir members, the summertime concert tour-of five European countries, actually became a reality with the advent of shots, passport applications, boat tickets, Ger- man lessons and much hard work. The win came as sweet revenge, for the Oilers had earned a 64-49 victory over Bluffton earlier in the year. With the score tied 58-58 at the 'end of the regulation game, Freshman jerry Burrey hit three field goals and two free throws to score all of Bluffton's overtime points and give the Beavers a two point edge. Burrey scored 14 points in the game, but Freshmen Bob Raber and Chuck Buroker paced the team 18 and 15 points respectively. Bluffton's fast break hurt Goshen in the last half, and John Wolfinger, jerry Burrey, and Phil Horrisberger scored several easy layins to insure the victory for the Beavers. N A lack of depth in field events kept Bluffton's track team from finishing higher than fourth in the Mid-Ohio Conference track meet, but the individual stars of the team came up with some record breaking performances. Bluffton's crack mile relay team smashed the conference record, which it had established last year, three times throughout the season and came up with a 3:27.7 clocking in the conference meet to take the trophy in that event. The team was composed of Larry Copeland, Denny Bishop, Terry Marshall, and Dale Schiffke. Denny Bishop and Dale Schiffke also took first and second places in the open half mile run throughout the season. Dermy broke Bluffton's record by cutting his time to 2:00.3. Wayne Dickason cleared the high jump bar at 6'3 to earn a tie for the conference record in that event. Larry Copeland ran the open 440 yard dash all spring and came up with some ex- ceptional times including a 50.1 clocking in a dual meet with Ohio Northern. Loaded with all kinds of hitting ability, A. C. Burcky was able to pick almost any of his men to play and still come up with a winning com- bination. The team compiled a .323 batting average and was led by Freshman johnny VV olfinger who topped all bat- ters with a .500 batting average. Much credit must also go to Terry Ayers, jerry Burrey and Paul Schilling, who took care of the pitching chores. Ayers finished with an exceptional 1.32 earned run average. The team Won 10 and lost 4, and co-mpiled an 8-2 conference record to tie for first place. Baseball coach and head of the athletic department, A. C. Burcky received a high honor at the close of the season when he was named the National Association of Athletic Collegiate Hall of Fame. Don Nuss- baum's netters won the league championship, but were nosed out of the conference tournament by Ohio Northern. Depth was the key word in the season's success. Blufftonis third, fourth, and fifth men did not lose an MOL match during regular season play. Seniors on the team included the number one and three men, Gody Gerber and jim Burry.
