The halls of Bluffton High School began to bloom when the Y-Teens opened the year with a flower-making project. The annual Best Beau banquet, held in Oc¬ tober, was also the initiation of new members. The Y-Teens also hosted the area-wide Mid- Winter Conference, held for the first time in Bluffton. Along with bringing the Christmas spirit to a needy family, the group donated a sum of money to a children ' s hospital in Haiti. Ending a successful year, President Jan Jack- son, Vice President Cindy Hauk, Secretary Sally Jackson, and Treasurer Cheryl Shaffter con¬ ducted the ceremonies at the Mother-Daughter Tea in May. Sponsor Mrs. Nash and officers helped make ' 69-70 a success¬ ful year. Responsibility to Others Cultivated by Hi-Y The Hi-Y year started earlier than most people realize; Mr. Loveland and the club ' s officers journeyed to Michigan the previous July on a fishing trip. During the fiscal year, new Hi-Y members were initiated, followed by the Christ¬ mastime caroling with the Y-Teens at local nursing homes, the Best Girl banquet, and the Father and Son dinner. Besides operating the concession stand during home basketball games, the club also donated a piano and a large sum of money to the BHS Music Depart¬ ment. The meetings, centering on the theme Re¬ sponsibility to Others, featured Bluffton ' s mayor and police chief, as well as two promi¬ nent ministers.
