22 A.D. W RETROSPECT. Senior Class History The class of 1022 made its first appearance in dear It. II. S. one bright morning in September, 11)18. This class was one of I lie hesl that was ever privileged to enter Bluffton High School. Our class at this time consisted of fifty-nine members, and it was with great fervor that we elected the following officers to guide us through onr first year: President, Robert Elder; vice-president, Frank- lin Shire; secretary-treasurer, Kathryne Meyers. By the time the inter-class basketball season began, we had devel- oped a fast little team with Derr captain; Costello and Dailey, forwards; Gettle, center; Hart, Cotton, Conklin, Tabor, guards. On the first of September, 1919, we met for the second time in B. H. S. and elected Franklin Shire, president; Marcy Gettle, vice-president; Gladys Swinford, secretary; and Lois Barr, treasurer. With great pride and joy we carried off the silver plate, which is awarded to the basketball team winning the inter-class game. Another year passed by and we returned to B. H. S. as true blue Juniors and we had been Sophomores, always loyal to our class colors of black and gold. The officers were elected as follows : Marcy Gettle, president; Franklin Shire, vice-president; Elizabeth Patton, secretary and Edward Walburn, treasurer. Numerous social events occurred during the year and in May we had the honor of holding our first reception, which turned out to be a splen- did success. The following September we met for the last time in B. H. S. Plans were made for a great year, and one to be remembered forever. The fol- lowing officers were chosen to help make our last year a success. Presi- dent Marcy Gettle; vice-president, Martha Thomas; secretary, Lois Barr; treasurer, Maynard 1 let rick. -We were again permitted to carry off the silver plate, which was awarded to our track team for winning the inter-class meet. One thing will always remain with the class of ' 22, and that is the success of our class play. It was claimed to be one of the best ever presented by a Senior class. Financially it was a success, netting in the two nights, |236.00. Commencement came at last and the grand old class with an en-, rollment of fifty-two passod into history, thus closing our days in deac B. H. S. and nothing remains but the shadows and memories of Senior merriment. —SENIOR EDITOR ' 22
