S Shall Work To Keep This Freedom Freedom Out of the awakening of men ' s minds And out of the confusion of meanings Crept the concept of Freedom. Quietly, reflectively, It pervaded every desire and every thought In every man. And it became known and accepted in the Consciousness of the world. And men were educated And knew the truth. Men had something to live for, Something greater Than one small life. And when freedom was threatened And repressed, The men could not forget it And they would not let it die. 1 . Covert, Stemen, Brown, and Moyer all helped to guide them through. The sixteen Seniors did their very best, since it was their very last game, but the forty-four left will do their best to improve upon the past. This year ' s track team has progressed more than any former squad. Each individual has done an ex- cellent job in performance and is striving toward a personal goal of achievement. The 1966 season saw many records broken and new ones established. Bluff ton emerged victorious in four out of five meets with the tie going to Bath. The squad should be con- gratulated for its excellent job and will strive for another victorious season in ' 67. Dick and Darwin lead the pack. Baseball Kow One: Steve Yant, Bob Everett, Ken Ehrman. Row Three: Gregg warms up before a game. Oops! Missed! Another baseball season has come to a close at B.H.S. The final record of the team is 0-10-1, but this doesn ' t tell the whole story. The team should return next year with lots of experience. Only four seniors will be leaving. It should also be pointed out that many of these returning lettermen were lead- ing in many of the team statistics. Another inter- esting factor is that out of the 11 games, only three were lost by more than five runs and four were lost by one run. Golf Golf is a relatively new sport at B.H.S., being introduced only last year. Under the coaching of Mr. Bowden the 1966 team closed out their best season to date. Their final record was 4-4. The squad voted Harold Waidmann the most valuable player at the end of the season. Other lettermen were Dick Mast, Rex Reichenbach, Dave Cochran and Don Cochran. Row One: Harry Greding, George Traueht, Randy Shinn, Jim Sutter. Row Two: Rex Reichenbach, Dave Cochran, C- ach Bowden, Harold Waidmann, Mark Amstutz, Don Cochran. Saundra Hanthom, Ann Triplett, Sheryl Harrison, Pat Carter, Jerri Tschantz, Mary Jane Bemoth, Cheermaster. Varsity Cheerleaders It takes a lot of leadership, a lot of lung power, a lot of long hours, and some talent to be a capable B.H.S. cheerleader. The basketball and football sea- sons were the highlights of the year. Other activities included a full day of learning new cheers and tech- niques at the Bowling Green cheerleading clinic, helping with the newly formed Pep Club, planning and working out pep sessions, and making enthu- siastic pep signs to cheer the Pirate teams on to victory. Money-making activities were directed to- ward sending delegates to a summer cheerleading camp. A vote of thanks from each member of the squad goes to their advisor, Miss Raymond, whose able leadership went far beyond duty in concern and encouragement. This year ' s Co-Ed Bowling League was made up of 24 members ; divided into eight teams. Each team consisting of three bowlers was competing for the trophy which is awarded to the team winning the most games at the end of the tournament. This year ' s bowlers were also members of the American Junior Bowling Congress. Members of the AJBC are eligible to compete in district bowling tournaments with trophies going to bowlers placing the highest scores. The president for the bowling league was Linda Hughes; vice president, Walt Barber; treasurer, Pat Carter; secretary, Jim Wheeler. .Sharon sizes up the situation. The American way of aging. Our Sadie Hawkins dance was a year ' s highlight and even our games proved to be worth the time it took to play, watch, or ref- eree . . . This year ' s Junior Class play, held on November 19 and 20, was originally written as a farce of col- lege life and has become a picture of our Victorian ancestors. Two college boys have invited their young ladies to a tea party to meet the millionairess aunt of one of the boys. When the girls refuse to stay unless properly chaperoned and the aunt fails to appear, they impress one of their college fellows to dress up and impersonate the aunt. Things get worse (or better from the audience view) when two older gentlemen decide to seek the hand and purse of the imitation dowager. Naturally the real aunt ar- rives, sizes up the situation and reveals herself at the proper moment as Donna Litcai d ' Alvedorez, Charley ' s Aunt from Brazil, where the nuts come from. Mr. Antrobus represents the inventor, husband, father and mastermind. Sabina is the Antrobus ' family maid who adds confusion and comedy to the plot. Through this modern play, Wilder com- bines the history of the human race into three acts of fun, thought, and assurance that, regard- less of the decay of the human race, we, the people of the world will always pull through by the skin of our teeth .
