fwcn ty sw: SCENE I CLASS OF 1938 BERTRAN SMUCKER NEIL BAUMGARTNER ROPP TRIPLETT Hamlet Mruk flntony Slmflock PRESIDENT VICE PRI' SIDENJT SECRFTARY TREASURFR Twas said rn the days of yore by teachers and friends when the class of 38 was traveling the path of knowledge that they would make a mark for themselves during the course of their academic travels Yea verily rt has come to pass First of all the class of 38 had the distinction of berng the first eighth grade ever to enter the portals of Bluffton High due to the openlng of the new building Although they werent Freshmen they were of the proverbial green color The slxty three members elected Roberta Blery, president Bertran Smucker vice president, Nelson Hauenstem secretary and Mr Geiger, adviser Even whlle rn the throes of Freshmenrsm our worthy members made them elves felt rn music, Journalism and athletics The larger class of seventy six chose George Swank as president, Ropp Trlplett as vice president Betty Trrplett as secre tary, Nelson Hauenstern as treasurer and Miss Leiter as adviser When we became sophomores we were a well established fact in our school cur members of the class participated rn the school life In the third leg of our educa tional Journey we chose a girl to keep us on the path Ethel Jean Marshall was the capable lass Delbert Gratz was her assistant and June Burkholder her secretary and and treasurer Mr Howe was chosen as adviser Upon our arrival at the upper classmen stage we had become a necessary part of dear old B H S This was the year when the 'umors helped bring home the bacon so many trmes Ropp Trrplett was elected to the presidency of the class Bertran Smucker his assistant and Everett Hrestand hrs treasurer Mr Daymon and Mr Krng were the advisers After four short years we came to the home stretch We were dlglllfled semrors This year we had more responsibility in the field of leadership heading the annual the paper athletic teams, music drama debate, the xarrous clubs and the student body as a whole Bertran Smucker was president Nell Baumgartner vice president, Ropp Trrplett, secretary and treasurer and Mr Smucker and Mr Stauffer advisers We truly enjoyed our Journey with its educational values social xalues its laughs and sorrows It wasnt always a four lane concrete highway we traxeled, either A lump seemed to come into the throats of the seventy one wayfarers as thev reached their destination when crossing the stage to recerxe their well earned diplomas ,Z my 5 I ll 77 ll ,, YV ll .'7 1 . , - , Y , ' ' Cl , 77 .' 5 .
