Wddfdly In the fall of 1952 27 Freshmen began their new experience of going to high school and an exciting Journey to ward graduation We first chose Mrs Ruckman and Mr Dalhaus as our sponsors and Virgil Huseman president Raymond Davis vice president Carl Jarvis secretary and treasurer Roberta Ellison and Fred Barnett represented our class on the student council We were then given the annual ini t1at1on by the Sophomores With the regular studying class meetings and many activities which kept us very busy our Freshman year had soon ended Three months of summer vacation had ended and we were ready to begin our Sophomore year We again chose as our sponsors Mrs Ruckman and Mr Dalhaus and class officers were Fred Barnett Pres Peggy Likes secretary Roberta Elli son treasurer Virgil Huseman and Marjorie Buhlig were on the student council In the cheerleading squad were Roberta Ellison Nancy Mains Peggy Likes and Marjorie Buhlig W1th the usual studying and many act1v1t1es all too soon another year had ended Ourgunior year was a busy and ex c1t1ng one We chose Mr Waterman and Miss Seely as sponsors Class of ficers were Virg1lI-Iuseman President KennethA tk 1 n s o n V 1 c e President Peggy Likes secretary Roberta Elli son treasurer Fred Barnett and Ro berta Ellison were student council rep resentat1ves Homecoming queen attendants were Marjorie Buhlig and Peggy Likes On the newspaper staff were Roberta Ellison Editor Lonnie L McDaniel Assistant Editor Raymond Davis sports Peggy Likes Feature Joan Kroencke and Marjorie Buhlig Organi zations Everyone will remember our play 'Everybody's Getting Marrie ' as a great success as well as the Junior Senior Prom Oriental Gardens in May The fourth and final year had ar r1ved and it too was to be a busy one Mr Coughlin and Mr DeFrates were our sponsors with V1rg1lHuseman President Vlncent Berry Vice Presi dent Peggy Likes Secretary and Ro berta Ellison Treasurer Janis Meier and Raymond Davis were members of the student council This year we won the magazine sales and were given a free trip to a movie in Jacksonville The following semor boys were on Raymond Davis Fred Barnett Virgil Huseman Francis Gregory Martin Lovekamp and Roger Long The annual Homecoming Dance was sponsored by the seniors and Louise Coll1son was named Homecoming Queen w1th Roberta Ellison and Joan Kroencke as her attendants Boys out for basketball were Fred Barnett Kenneth Atkinson Raymond Davis and Virgil Huseman Roberta Ellison and Peggy Likes represented our class on the cheer leading squad All of the studies ball games plays parties and many other activities are in the past as we have reached the goal of graduation It has been a lot of work but we will always remember the good times we had at B H S CARDINAI INN CAFE JACKSONVILLE JOURNAL COURIER Pittsfield Illinois Jacksonville Illinois I I ' , ' , ' ' ' d' . , . . . , - . , . . .- ident: Kenny Atkinson, vice president: the football squad: Kenneth Atkinson, ! Several years ago I dec1ded to take a tr1p and locate the class of '56 Whenlstarted out the f1rst ones I saw were CARL JARVIS and LONNIE Mc DANIEL r1d1ng on Carl's new black and yellow motorcycle I stopped them and they told me they got thelr class rmgs back from 'Dosh' and now the r1ngs are 1n J'v1lle Before I left Illxnoxs I stopped 1n Spr1ngf1eld and found that NANCY MAINS had completed her college ed ucat1on and IS now the pr1vate s'ecre tary of Governor Stratton She told me WANDA CUMBY was l1v1ng 1n Ch1cago and 1S now the mother of f1ve Campbell's and she also sa1d the un BEDDINGFIELD 1S the Engl1sh tea cher at B H S ' Wh1le we were d1s cuss1ng the good old days guess who drove by?
