Bomb threat bombs out RIGHT: Students relax during threat and dance. BELOW: Some students look for a better view of the entertainment during the bomb threat BELOW RIGHT: Teachers meeting after bomb threat. Hello — Bluestone Sr. High School. There ' s a bomb in the school. It will go off in 30 minutes.” This was the context of a phone call received by Mrs. Linda Ferrell on Nov. 11, 1976 at 10:18 A.M. She immediately rang the fire alarm and students, teachers and all other personnel rapidly evacuated the buildings. They were told to proceed to the parking lot. Most of the students remained there for over two hours in the cold wind. There were 45 terrified students who proceeded in their states of madness to leave school. They returned the following day to learn of their consequences. They were faced with such trials as zero ' s in the classes they had missed. In time lost through the two hour idleness, the coun- ty lost $1200. This figures includes the idle time of teachers, cafeteria workers and office and guidance per- sonnel. It also includes the time it took for the state police, sheriffs and county people to clear the school for re-entrance. 14 Bomb Threat Jeff Hand
