Preface In this, the 1973 Golden Link, we have tried to cover the main events at Bluestone Senior High from March ' 72 through March ' 73. However, a look at daily life starts in September ' 72. We hope we have shown a glimpse of life as it really is at Bluestone. There would be no Golden Link ' 73 but for the help of Mrs. Stumps, Mr. Partridge, Max Ward and Delmar Company, Mr. Moore, The Clarksville Times, The Mecklenburg News; the support of community and students; and the dedication of our staff photographers and active staff members. We owe special thanks to each of these for their help and cooperation. Kathy Sheppard, Editor-in-Chief

Bluestone, located in the middle of three towns, lies approximately eight miles from each. This has a very definite effect on its students. They don ' t have to contend with big city problems such as pollution, high crime rate, or racial upheaval. There looms, instead, the problems of lack of financial support, transportation to and from after-school activities, an d limited facilities and course availability. Perhaps the biggest problem is apathy. Support of sports, social activities, extracurricular activities has gone down the drain. Yet, some determined students, teachers, and administrators have worked to eliminate this apathetic attitude.
