6 As the sun sets on the past two-hundred years let our minds reflect upon the growth and expansion our nation has known. We have developed from the days when transportation was by foot on trails that were washed away, to today when man travels at supersonic speeds in the air. The two-hundred years of our nation's progress has been marked in every aspect of the American life. Nothing but the characteristics on which our nation was built have stood still. Today, as then, the American works to understand himself and others. He seeks to find tI'Ll6 peace and harmony. Time has seen us learn to live and love one another, as we strive together for such desires as freedom and equality. Bluefield State College is characteristic of the American culture. The past eighty- one years that it has been in existence have shown great improvements in the educational as well as social status. Life, here, has not stood still. It has progressed today in enrollment as well as in the expansion of its curriculum. The population of Bluefield State College has worked hard to maintain the high goals that represent the American dream. For this reason, we present the i Bluefield State Blueprint for the students and faculty of Bluefield State College.

The spirit of the United States was derived by the combined effort of many people in their strive for unification. Active participation in the fight for freedom was illustrated by the Boston Tea Party, the Continental Congresses, Paul Revereis ride, as well as in the battles themselves. People were unafraid to become involved. Today, the importance of becoming involved is shown in every aspect of life at BSC. It is true that the active participation in organi- zations has decreased, but even with this decrease there is still student involvement. This involvement is seen in the small gath- ering of friends in the Student Union over lunch, the sharing of thoughts and cokes in the Basic Science Building, as Well as the continuous conversing of students between classes. This is the way life at Bluefield State College is . . . It is people sharing, planning, hoping, and dreaming.
