BLUES EXCITI G, BUT YOUN The basketball season started off the .year with a bang, winn' the Concord Tournament with relative ease. The Blues then loo very impressive in wins against Lynchburg and Morris Harvey. officiating resulted in a 117-105 setback in Pikeville, Kentucky. got back on the winning track by downing Beckley and Concord, winning their own tournament. West Virginia State proved to be very tough on their own co shooting an unbelievable 60W and downing the Blues handily 1 89. Archie Talley scored 51 points in a magnificent effort, but Blues, led by String Harris' 43 points, were too much for the Tige The Blues downed Davis and Elkins easily, but that was the c before the storm . . . Two conference losses to W. Va. State and Wheeling, two easy wins over hapless West Liberty and Lynchb and then the cruncher with two tough losses, one to Shepherd 95- and one to top-ranked Fairmont 96-84. The season cannot be looked at with dismay nor great iubilati Great performances were expected of a young and inexperien team. They gave it all they had and did a great job, and have potential to do so in the future.
