blue season for BLUES Reflecting on the Big Blues football season one cannot help but remember the dismay and sadness that go hand and hand with a losing record. One must remember though that this was a young team, a team consisting of 28 freshmen of 40 on the squad. There were, however, a few bright spots in this dismal year that helped ease the pain: john Monroe gained 1000 yards, Glen Tabor was named to the WVIAC All-Conference defen- sive team, and Lawrence Pockets Hall led the team in return yardage. The Blues finished the season with a 1-9 record, their only victory coming against Homecoming foe West Virginia State. The Blues won 19-14, defeating a far more powerful W. Va. State team. Football, like any other game, is a game of winning and losing. The only way to separate a good team from a great team is how well they bounce back from defeat. We hope next year the Blues and coaches Mick Watson, Tony Zvonar, Mike Maser, Bob Hedrick, and Aaron Saunders will be able to bounce back from a bad year and be successful in the next.
