Activity One of the most outstanding characteristics of Bluefield High School Students is their extensiveeparticipation in extra-curricular activities. Individual interests are encouraged and respected by students and faculty alike. For those who wish to serve the community, there are the Key Club, the Keyettes, and the City Youth Council. Interested in languages? The French Club and the Latin Club are active in studying and enjoying languages. The Hi-Y Club and the Y-Teens participate in many projects and social activities throughout the' year. For those planning a career, the Future Teachers of America and the Health Careers Organization open opportunities for study in the fields of teaching and medicine. Dramatics and speech are among the most popular activities at BHS. National Thespians and National Forensic encourage activities in those fields. The Library Assistants and the Stage Crew are concerned with the maintenance and appreciation of the library and the auditorium. The formation of Christian ideals and practices among all students is the goal of the Bible Club. Active in music are the Choir, Concert Choir, Band and Stage Band, who, at various times, present programs to the student body and community organi- zations. Finally, there is our body of government, the Student Council, which strives to represent the students in matters of school policy. All these groups are unique in their functions and activities, yet they have one common factor--they are composed of the stu- dents of BHS, who are working and hoping for a bright today and a brighter tomorrow.
