Mary Hunter Austin We, as sophomores, at the foot of the high school stairs, have just begun anew phase of our education. Although we cannot as yet reach the heights reserved for juniors and seniors, our first year as high school students has given us expanding interests and re- sponsibilities, which we have readily accepted. We have climbed the step of scholarship, for countless sophomore names are printed on every honor roll. We have climbed the step of school spirit, for we cheer enthusiastically at pep assemblies and games. We have climbed the steps of responsibility and leadership, for we have become members of student clubs and activities. Now, a year of golden experiences has made us confident that our steps will lead us to the pinnacles of success. With youthful exuberance, we are reaching out to embrace the Whole world--its wonders, its joys, and its challenges. We look not back, but move with eagerness toward the goal of maturity. 52
