Homecoming, a day to remember By Debbie Ring choes of laughter, cheers from stu- dents, and the applause of a crowd brightened the street and the stadium. It was Homecoming Day at Blue Springs High School. The day began with the floats, trucks and students that traveled down Main Street in celebration of the game to follow, a game that everyone hoped to win. 4 The band peijforms at halftime during the Homecoming game, upper left. Coach Norwine, Coach Parker, and Coach Dunn get a pie in the face at the Homecoming assembly, lower right. 1OfHomecoming The 1983-84 Homecoming game was played against Rockhurst and the Wildcats were defeated with the final score of 0 to 28. Blue Springs began losing the game in the first half, as the score remained the same after half time. But the game wasn't the only sus- pense action that was filling the air. It was also the nomination of the Home- coming Queen. Oh my gosh, I can't believe it, said Jennifer Martin, who was the newly elected queen. She said upon being elected, It was unbelievable and an exciting time in my life. Then it was on to the last half of the game. After the game many stu- dents went home to prepare for the dance to follow, a dance and an even- ing that could be remembered for sev- eral years- ' I
