.v. ll ! I ' f Kittens carry off Three Trophies The Blue Springs Wildkittens started the season with much spirit and enthusiasm. When practice had been underway a few days the team began to look very promising. Maud Morris, Mary Beth Kirby, and Mary Lou Pressly made up the starting line-up for the forwards. I For the guards, Peggy J. Brownfield, Louise Todt, and Patty Jo Portwood. Those capable reser- ves were: Shirley Morris, Katherine White, Norma Lee Nichols, Patricia Putthoff,June Will- iams, Polly Lewis, and Larietta Moore. fHenrietta was the Kittens first opponents. The Kittens walked away with a decisive victory, 58-9. The Kittens entered the Greenwood tournament in late November. Their first game in the tourney was with Pleasant Hill. The game was a close one with Blue Springs winning by one point. The Wildkittens were eliminated from the tourney by the loss of their next game to Buckner. The second tournament the Kittens entered proved to be more successful for them. The first game of the tourney was a close one with P. Hill winning by the narrow margin of one point. The next game the Kittens walked away with a victory from Greenwood, winning the Consolation Trophy. The Blue Springs Invitational Tournament was a huge success with the Kittens carrying away the second place trophy. The team defeated Raytown for their first victory. In the next game the Kittens defeated the hard fighting Ruskin team by one point. An extra 50 seconds had to be played to decide the victor. In the finals the Wildkittens were defeat- ,ed by Grain Valley, 37-24 The girls team ended their season by taking the Consolation ttrophy at the Midwest Conference Tournament at Ruskin.
