We played both six man and eleven man football, beginning the season with the former. Our first game was with Henrietta here. It was a six man game and we. came out on top by a score of 25 to 6. The next struggle was Grain Valley on our field. At the end of the game, the scoreboard showed a score of 20 to 50 in our favor. B DeWitt received three touchdown passes on an off center play from Dick Lowe. On the third pass, DeWitt swallowed his gum and had to be taken out of the game. Our first eleven man game was with Buckner, at Buckner, and it was another victory for us, the final score being 26 to O, For the last game of the season, we journeyed to Butler and were tromped 54 to 7. Butler hadn't won a game all season until this one.At the end of the third quarter, they sent their first 5 teams to the showers and let their fourth gain some experience. Next year we hope to revenm the results on them. The most exciting game was played at Raytown. Our team had been the under-dog all the way and then with much con- fidence and great power, went, on to beat Raytown 24-6. This was the biggest upset of the season. The band was out and a capacity crowd was on hand to watch Baytown take another game. We received the kickoff and ran the ball ' back to enemy territory. On the very next play, we scored on a pass to Basham. Our next touchdown was made by Butler and at the end of the first quarter the score was l2 to O. At the start of the second quarter, Baytown came back with much power and scored immediately to show that they were still in there fighting.Dick Lowe scored another touchdown for us on an off-tackle play just as the first hald ended. During the last half, the ball seesawed back and forth the' length of the field, but only one touchdown was scored by either team. This touchdown was made by Bud Wells on a spectacular run of 85 yards, and was the only one of its kind during the game. 22

Totten, Charles Lewis, Bob Lemons, Lawrence Morris, Glenn Paxton. After the blow of losing six players last year the Blue Springs Wildcats did very well by winning 15 out of 25 games this season. Our first line-up consisted of DeWitt, Basham, Wells, Hanks, and Lgwe. Butler, Burkhardt, and Lewis also saw a great deal of action. The Wildcats piled up the total score of 525 points in l5games at the average of 55 points per game. There were also 154 fouls in.these 15 games, which shows that our team contained much hussle. The most exciting game of the season was played atWell- ington. The score at the end of the game was 5B up and the game was forced into an overtime. ln the first seconds Wellington grabbed the ball and scored two points. Quickly Basham dropped in a bucket in time to tie it up at the end of the first overtime. In the second overtime the crowd was on their feet.The play was cautious and the final min- utes were nearing. Like a streak, Hanks snatched the ball and headed for ourfbasket. He was fouled by three Welling- ton players and received two free throws. The whole game depended on these two shots. The crowd quietedg Hanks stepped up to the free throw line and shot the ball. It found its mark and the crowd went crazy. Again Hanks took the ball and shot. Again the ball slipped through the net and the game was ours. Lowe won individual scoring honors for this game with sixteen points. ' Blue Springs was host at the Sixth Annual Invitational Tournament here and were guests at the Greenwood, Pleasant Hill, and Ruskin Tournaments. We were Champions at the W0M.C. tourney and also champions of the Western Missouri Conference. 24 1'
