The Library Club The Blue Ridge Chapter of the North Carolina High School Library Association was organized for the fifth year under the sponsorship of Mrs. Morris. Officers elected for the school year were: Jimmie Reeves, president; Charles Neves, secre¬ tary; Buddy Hamrick, vice president, and Walton Moore, treasurer. The club has endeavored to increase interest in the library by chapel programs, a book week skit, a tea given to introduce the student body and faculty to the new books. In January five members motored to Asheville with Mrs. Morris to the Western District Luncheon Meeting. The members were acquainted with the new film strip projector and its operation as part of their library project. The state convention in Salisbury was attended by several members and officers of the club. The club displayed a scrapbook of its work there. Plans have been made for the club to be con¬ tinued next year. Page Eleven

The Esquire Club During the two years the Esquire Club has been in existence it has made an outstanding con¬ tribution to the social life of the school. The club was founded by a group of boys who wanted to create an opportunity for social gatherings, to plan picnics, parties, etc. At first, because of lack of interest, little progress was made, but through the generosity of the members a well furnished club room was attained. At the opening of this school year six returning members reorganized the club with the hope of a more successful year than the one before. With the addition of seven new members the club be¬ gan to make an upward climb towards success. A television set which was soon added to the club greatly increased the enthusiasm of its members. The club ' s next achievement was in the middle of the winter term. With the full cooperation of club members, student body, faculty, and patrons, one of the most successful dances in the history of the school was held. Due to the success of the club this year, in the following years it will probably sponsor the school dances. Page Ten
