By it's origin, Lacrosse is a war game in which the contestants display their skill and speed as well as toughness. The 1973 Barons, coached by Mr. Knauff, were a living representation of that same fe- rocity which characterized the age-old warriors. With tri-captains Chris Hup- feldt, Martin Fenwick, and Steve Parker, the Blue and White roped an 8- 5 season as they cut through the best teams in the league. Coach Knauff's team was the only Blue Ridge team on the varsity level to shut down Wood- berry's winning machine in 73'. Blue Ridge Lacrosse is gaining popu- larity with each year of existence. With more seasons like the last, there should be nothing to stand in the way of such a growth. 143
