She has a sweet personality and a disposition to go with it. Her favorite food is spaghetti and pork chops. Her fa- vorite saying is Oh! sugar. She expects to work after gradu- ation and later become a housewife. CLASS HISTORY HALLSTEAD Our freshmen days began ln September 1951 w1th a total enrollment of 19 g1rls and 22 boys After the flrst confuslng weeks we settled down to our studles of h1story Engllsh algebra general scxence home economxcs Latm and health Th1s was a busy year We had ahard time gettmg accustomed to our new hxgh school schedule but some of our members found t1me for such extra curr1cular act1v1t1es as baseball basketball and track Class off1cers were elected and they were as follows Pres1dent Jack Dearborn V1ce Pres1dent L1nda Holtzman Secretary Sally Florance Treasurer Bobby Whalen We were very sorry when Jackxe Dear born left us ln the mlddle of the year to go back to the state of Washlngton In June 1952 the class made a very enjoyable tr1p to Rocky Glen thus concludlng our freshmen days When we came back to school ln the fall we were sophomores another step toward our grad uation We elected new class offlcers Pres1dent Sally Florance Vlce Pres1dent Connle Achterberg Secretary Linda Holtzman Treasurer Ellen VanValen This year was one 1n which we lost more classmates than we galned Although we welcomed the new Danny Denny L1nda Wood and Ray Rood we were sorry to see such old and dear classmates as Sally McDev1tt Connxe Achterberg Ellen VanValen Frances Wales and Ronme Osterhout depart from our lxttle group Our studles were gettmg harder but we managed to squeeze sports and fun into our busy schedule We ended our sophomore year w1th a class tr1p to Rocky Glen then vacatlon t1me whxch we were all very glad to see We reluctantly turned our backs on summer vacatxon as school started agaln m September 1953 Our class offxcers this year were Pres1dent James Morgan, V1ce Pres1dent Harold Willlams Secretary Richard Banker Treasurer Steve Hussmg We galned two new students from New Milford Ann Morrlson and Wnufred Darrow The purchase of our class r1ngs which bore the new Blue Ridge emblem was a new experxence for all of us and we were very sat1sf1ed w1th the results To fxll our somewhat empty treasury we sold personal1zed statxon ery but what we cons1dered our biggest financlal success was the presentatxon of our Jumor Play 1n March The txtle of it was Let Me Grow Up ' a comedy m three acts All those who took part mn xt were a lfttle sad when lt was all over but brlghtened at the thought of our Senxor Play next year We held the annual Jumor Senxor Banquet at the Park V1ew Hotel 1n New Mllford After we received our report cards at the end of the year we could proudly call our selves the 1955 Semors of Blue Rxdge Hxgh School When we returned to school 1n September 1954 as the seniors of the Hallstead d1v1s1on of Blue Rldge Hlgh School we all had a funny feelmg about bemg the oldest students ln the bu1ld1ng and for the flrst couple weeks we mlssed last year s semors But now we ve come to the full realizatxon of It all and take xt 1n our strlde As usual we elected class offlcers Pres1dent Dorothy Crandall Vice Pres1dent Bobby Whalen Secretary L1nda Wood Treasurer Steve Hussmg As seniors we had to thlnk ahead toward such f1nanc1al matters as our trxp to Wash 1ngton D C and graduatxon As a starter we ordered our name cards and mv1tat1ons then 1n October we presented our Senxor Play which greatly contrnbuted to our treasury The name of the play was Men Are Like Streetcars Another event whlch took place 1n October was our class trip to New York Clty It was an experxence that none of us w1ll ever forget Also on that trip we got better acqua1nted w1th our fellow classmates from New Mxlford and Great Bend It seems evervthmsz happened xn the month of October for ln the latter part of the month we be came very proud of one of our classmates and we had reason for bemg so Our Ton1 Aust1n had become Penna Queen of Apple Desserts and also ranked thxrd 1n the Natlon We all thmk xt couldn t happen to a mcer g1rl Another of our money raismg ideas was the presentatlon of a Ma,gic1an Show in the late part of November As our semor year draws swxftly to a close we all thlnk of graduatxon and our future some of us amuous to leave and others sad because we all know that our school years are the best years and xt 18 an experlence we can never rellve 30 7 9 ' 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 - 1 1 - 1 1 - . . l . - . . .
