Dawn is one of our cutest girls with a swell personality. Her favorite hang- out is the Post Office where she is found looking for mail from Japan. Devilish grin, friendly, and a definite masculine taste in clothing, are just a few of the characteristics which make Jerry a well-likedmember of the Senior Class. ' 9 OUR TRIP TO New YORK CITY At approximately 3 10 Friday mormng February 26 52 members from the Blue Ridge High Schools accompanied by five teachers boarded the train for New York City We arrived at Hoboken at 6 30 A M and took the Lackawanna Ferry across the Hudson River to our destlnatlon We made our first stop at an Automat for breakfast whlch was a new experience for most of us After breakfast the people of New York City saw a sleepy eyed bunch of kids and teachers walking through the produce markets Chmatown Grand Central Station and other places on our way to the United Nations Building At the U N Building we were allowed to sit in Conference Room 3 and listen to the many delegates present their versions of the crisis at hand After the hear of the U N Guides Much later after visiting several other places such as museums New York Ca thedral Grant's Tomb and another Automat we went to Radio City At the beauti ful theatre there we saw the most marvelous stage show any of us had ever before witnessed and The Long Long Trailer starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez We then headed for Grand Central Station and a subway car through the Tubes and 1nto our own car on the Lackawanna Rallroad which left Hoboken a little after 1 o'clock Saturday morning Six o'clock saw a very tlred but happy bunch of kids arriving home and getting 1n to bed from which not many of us moved until at least 4 o'clock that afternoon All had a wonderful time and anticipate our next trip Colors Rust and Yellow Flower Herbert Hoover Rose Motto 'Out of school life into 11f6'S school 33 . 'We'l1 always fight for the red and white, VOLLEYBALL The Blue Ridge girls and boys volleyball teams captured the county titles for the 1953 sea- son. The boys added the district title to their collection and then went to Penn State where they participated in the eighteenth annual P.I A.A Senior High School Volleyball Tournament Blue Ridge emerged third in the state out of seven teams participating. ' 3 , . . , ' JUNIOR BAND During the year we have been act1ve 1n the monthly assembly programs produced by the 1nd1v1dual homerooms In addltlon to thls we have had several successful assembly slngs for whlch the band furmshed the accompamment In December the muslc department ass1sted the flrst grade 1n a muslcal program for the PTA We also Jomed forces wlth the other departments IH our bulldmg to present a Chrlstmas pageant whlch was well recewed by the pubhc The upper elementary grades provlded the program for another PFA Carl Smith represented our school at the Northeastern Dxstrlct Chorus Festival at Sayre ln January We were also well represented 1n the County Muslc Festwal at New Mllford The early sprmg brought the smgers and mstrumentahsts of our schools together to prepare for our own Blue Rxdge Concert ln Aprll and for Com mencement muslc in June Wlth the mtroductxon of a v1ol1n class thls year we look forward to the re turn of an orchestra as an mstrumental umt m our school 58 program in March.
