Tender Loving Care May I help you? asked a smiling orderly as I hobbled into the emergency room. Yes, I said pointing to the blood flowing freely from my left leg, Could I please see a doctor? Sure . . . just a moment. Sit in this wheelchair, please. He then pushed me past three examination rooms, two doctors, and an intern who was busy putting golf balls into a bedpan. He finally stopped in front of a large desk with a stone-faced nurse behind it. May I help you? It's my leg. She looked down at the blood running from the cut in my leg and asked, What's wrong with it? It's bleeding pretty badly. I think it may be broken or something. Name? Gee, I never gave it one. No, I don't mean your leg. I want YOUR name. Houff. I-I-O-U-F-F. First name? Dennis. D-E-N-N-I-S . Area of the injury? Lf-ig. L-E-G. Address?
