Diamond Men Capture 1965 South Schuylkill, P.I.A.A. District 11 Laurels BLUE MOUNTAlN'S 1965 BASEBALL TEAM posted the most successful baseball season in diamond history. With a 14-1 overall record and a 12-1 league record, Coach Allen Greena- walt's baseball squad captured first place in the South Schuylkill Baseball League and took the P.l.A.A. District Eleven baseball crown. The Eagles won their first game with an easy 11-4 victory over Cass Township. The Eagle diamond men nipped Schuylkill Haven 3-2 and downed Pine Grove 5-2 with a three-run, last inning rally. The Eagles gained sole possession of first place by whitewashing previously un- beaten Pottsville 6-0. They continued their win- ning streak by triumphing over Tremont, 10-2g Cass Township, 20-19 and Tri-Valley, 3-2. Aided by Dave Snyder's no-hit pitching, the Eagles made it eight straight by blanking Pine Grove 6-0. Blue Mountain edged Schuylkill Haven 4-3, but had her winning streak stopped by Potts- ville in a 4-1 loss. Angered by their loss to Pottsville, the Blue Mountain men resounded with a 12-0 thumping of Tremont. The Eagles wrapped up the South Schuylkill League Championship in a 3-0 victory over Minersville. In their final league game the Eagle diamond men defeated Minersville 6-1. The Blue Mountain men now advanced to the P.l.A.A. District Eleven playoff eliminations. They whipped St. Clair, North Schuylkill League champions, by a score of 5-1 .
