Griddors T op Crimson Tide, 20-195 omplote Season with 8-2 Record LED BY A senior-studded line up, the Eagle gridmen posted their third consecutive winning season under head coach Victor Pituch, line coach Andrew Premich, and backfield coach Michael Klembara with an 8-2 overall slate and a 7-2 record in the Southern Division of the East Penn Football Conference . ln the season opener Blue Mountain defeated Pottsville for the first time in history by a score of 20-19. The Eagles continued their winning Ways stopping St. Clair 22-6 and crushing Ashland 51-O. A formidable Shamokin team handed Blue Mountain a 14-0 loss. The Blue Moun- tain gridmen bounced back with a 34-13 thrashing of Minersville. They then jarred Frackville 18-6 and downed Shenandoah 13-0. In a non-league game, the Eagles pun- ished jim Thorpe 21-6, and dropped the Olympians from the unbeaten ranks . A spirited Panther Valley team sur- prised Blue Mountain with a 40-13 bombing. The Eagle gridmen finished their season by clawing Schuylkill Haven 20-6. jeff Zimmerman, a hard-running halfback, was chosen to play on the Pennsylvania Big 33 Team and was also placed on the Associated Press's third string all-state team. Under the guidance of Coach Andrew Premich, the junior Eagles sported a 4-3 slate in the Schuylkill County Jayvee League. An outstanding characteristic of this year's jayvee edition was their spirited, determined, and hard playing. The young Blue Mountain men suffered an opening loss to Pottsville 6-O. The little Eagles smashed Minersville 20-6 and downed Frackville 21 -7 . Their winning streak Was then halted by a I4-6 loss to Mahanoy Area and a 20-I3 defeat by Shenandoah.
