THROUGH THE AID OF THE SOCIAL STU- DIES CURRICULUM, students learn about the progress man has made through the ages and about the people of the World. In junior high school the students are taught ancient history, American history, and civics. World Cultures, American His- tory, and Problems of Democracy make up the senior high history courses. For the first time seniors have an entire semester of eco- nomics . World Cultures and American His- tory are required for graduation. Congressman Rhoades spoke to the senior class in November. Science Program Expands to Facilitate Student Interest and Industrial Needs ' 3-4' EDWARD COPE AT BLUE MOUNTAIN VARIOUS sciences are studied to explain everyday as well as unusual phenomena. ' General science is offered at the seventh, eighth, and ninth grade levels . Also in ninth grade earth and space science is included in the curriculum. Specialized courses in biol- ogy, physics, and chemistry with two lab- oratory periods and four lecture periods complete the science program for tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades respectively. This year a transition has taken place in the physics and chemistry departments . Chemistry, formerly a twelfth grade subject, replaced physics as an eleventh grade sub- ject and vice versa.
