When the regular fall term began, five- period courses of advanced composition, speech academic art, and home economics were offered in the established curriculums. Two additional teachers were added to the faculty. Mr. Donald Smith was employed as a junior high mathematics and science teacherg Mrs, Yolanda Volkay was assigned as a junior high guidance counselor, giving our school a total of three counselors. In September the Gifted Student Program was introduced on a released time basis for qualifying students to take advanced mathe- matics courses at the Penn State Center. In no better way could students progress socially than by working with Tharnee as he participated in Student Council, his sponsoring organization, speech club, AERIE, college preparatory courses, and athletic activities. Living at the horne of John Fridirici, Tharnee learned to know America firsthand as the Fridiricis learned to know Thailand through sharing experiences with Tharnee. Once again the choruses presented fine concerts, and the marching band added a highlight to football games with intricate routines and rousing march tunes. Progress Socially Through New Activities Mr Romberger welcomes Tharnee Tongsrmark to Blue Mountam and Expewencesf ' WITH THE STRAINS OF DANCE MUSIC still drifting on the warm May breezes, satisfied juniors left the castle of Camelot, the regal setting for their social event of the year -- the Junior Prom. Working together on class projects, parties, sub sales, pep rallies, dances and rehearsals and discussing events and problems at lunch and during home room periods, students show evidence of progress socially.
