Seniors Pomp and Circumstancej' Elgar 6444 Class night was held on May 9, 1961. Outstanding awards were as follows: Girls' American Legion Award,Mary Jones, Boys' American Legion Award, Tom Kortg Balforr Award, Tom Kortg Outstanding Musician's Award, Mary Jones. Senior: 66444 pal? On November 15, the senior class presented The Remarkable Incident At Carson Corners . This was a play depicting the lives of the citizens of a small town. The enactment of a trial, held by high school students in an effort to find those who were to blame for the death of their class- mate, had a surprise ending. All who were present confessed to a part in the unfortunate incident. The play was presented not in the usual three acts but rather in one continuous movement. The stage setting was not the customary living room scene. Rather, it was bare except for that equipment needed in a court room. Thus, the audience was made to feel that they were an intregal part of the action. Mr. Prince . . Mrs. Prince . Dr. Caldwell . Mrs. Caldwell . . Mr. Rogers . . . Mrs. Rogers . . . This very humorous, three- act comedy was given under the direction of Mr. Gary Price. To be able to take the college entrance exams, Dan Tennyson, young genius of Center High, bribes his fellow students to wage a campaign that will convince his parents he is a social success. Hypnotism takes over in the second act. Dan hypnotizes Puff so he can pass his finals and Mr. Latherby, sponsor to Dan's quiz show, hypnotizes himself and thinks he's a bunny. The second act ends in chaos and confusion with Puff reciting Shakespeare and Mr. Latherby shouting for his parsnips. In Act 3 the parents find out the Whole truth about Dan's social success. Dan and Linda finally work out their love problems and both are able to attend college. The curtain falls as Rhodora hands Mr. Latherby his parsnips. - .,,, I 'Q Sponsored By ABBOTS ALL STAR DAIRY Hastings, Nebraska fi. Op The grade school operetta, HE SAID HE WAS SANTA , was held on December 8. It was based around the theme of an accident that Santa Claus had in the Swiss' Alps. He is found by two St. Bernard dogs that belong to some mountain gnomes. These gnomes, who are toy makers, do not recog- nize Santa Claus. Santa looks very ragged as a result of his tumbleg so the gnomes decide to clean the poor fellow. They cut his hair and shave him, which makes Santa furious, but to the gnomes he seems queer. When Santa's reindeer come at his call, the gnomes realize their mistake and mend matters by giving him a false beard and a wig. ffl' ,f L , lullllllllflly 'IHII mmzm FW Em ' FIRST ROW: V.
