Foxtrot Division lst row: Glendening SOI, Bond FTl, Wilson TMI 2nd row: Austin FTSN, Krause SN, Hudson TM3, Brooks FT3, Larson FT3, Livingston FT2, Dolge SO2, Callander SO3, Mitceell SO3 3rd row: Adams FTSN, Lee SN, Wright SO2, Campbell FT2, Daiton TM3, Hennig YN3, Graver SN, Frantz TM2, Longuevan SN, Gifford FT3 Missing: Coady FTl, Davison FT3, Edmunds FT3 FT TM SO One principle joins the three rates that compose this division: to hit a target. However, modern warfare has made this a complex and highly specialized feat. The Fire Control Technicians must employ a wide range of skills in their upkeep and operation of our four directors, electronics to maintain the radars, mechanics to keep the computers and gunlaying devices accurate, and ballistics to plot exactly where the projectile must hit. At top performance their equip- ment is geared to track and destroy all forms of surface and air enemies whether the attack' comes at day or night. The Torpedomen's responsibilities include most of our underwater battery, the depth charges and grenades, the imposing five tube mount and its director on the O1 level and the small swift underwater torpedoes and their launchers. To meet the ever increasing uses of the destroyer in anti-submarine war- fare, the sonar gang maintains the ahead thrown rocket launchers-the hedge- hogs-and, belowdecks, an underwater control system. At sea Sonarmen stand around the clock watches pinging 'i for any contact or obstruction that would be hidden to any other observer.
