Bur, after the celebrating is over there ore about two and o half months left with nothing to do. Most BHS students hod no problem finding ways to spend their rime lost summer. Several students found ways to bear the hear such os going on o shopping spree in o nice, cool moll. Others decided to sweat it our and catch o few sun rays or the neoresr beach. At DH5 the student body hos created much school spirir over the yeors, leaving the responsibility of maintaining rhor enthusiosm for underclassmen. You moy think that would be o hard responsibility to uphold, but with cooperorion ond motivation ft con be quite simple. Each person hos o special purpose. Our student body, of course, is very imporront along with each of rhe faculty members. The cheerleaders ore quite helpful in spreading enthusiasm ond supporting the ream throughout rhe year. Whether it's practicing for the big gome on Fridoy night or purring in long hours for that nor so long losting poy check, nearly everyone or BH5 is workin' for rhe weekend! Several srudenrs hove found FIRST CLASS jobs rhor keep them busy all week long. Out their rime doesn't seem wasted when Fridoy comes ond they receive that glorious poy check. All of rhe fighting Tiger teams spend many on afternoon practicing for upcoming gomes. The bond ond the cheerleaders also put in hours after school to polish up their FIRST CLASS routines. And, of course, almost every student or BHS struggles through seven long classes each day while counting rhe minutes until the 2:45 bell rings on Fridoy. Why so much excitement over o bell? T. Neal Civic Center was transformed into a formal ballroom in New York City for rhe 1985 Jr.-Sr. prom entitled, Puttin' On rhe Ritz.” Couples spent the evening dancing ond mingling with friends while dressed in rhe finest ortire. After rhe traditional grand march, John Mark Shiver and Sheree Smith were named Prom King and Queen. Other highlights of rhe evening included vocal performances by Jackie Tilson ond Debbie Lockwood. Don Christie from WPFM in Ponomo City wos disc jockey throughout rhe evening. The Junior Class wos highly commended for their beautiful decorations os well os their excellent organization during rhe prom. The seniors boorded rhe Trail ways bus on Thursday morning ond headed for Atlanta, Georgia where they enjoyed an afternoon at Stone Mountain. Thor evening rhe seniors attended the Atlanta Braves game. The next morning, back on rhe bus to Nashville, Tennessee. Upon arrival, they visited the Opryland Amusement Park and from there went to rhe Grand Ole Opry. On Saturday Morning, rhe seniors were given a tour of Nashville, where they visited the Ryeman Auditorium, rhe former home of rhe Grand Ole Opry, and Music Row, where all the shops and museums are. That afternoon rhe seniors headed bock to Atlanta for a relaxing rime swimming in rhe pool. The next morning, rhe final stop was 5ix Flags Over Georgia. Thor question con easily be answered by Mrs. Mory Sue Jones, science teacher or DHS. Mrs. Jones assigned her science students different rime periods and instructed them to dress accordingly. Afterwords, they were to give a report on their time period. The results? Nearly everyone enjoyed dressing in the unusual costumes that ronged from prehistoric styles right on up to the futuristic look. Classmates also got o kick our of seeing their friends in such wild outfits as togas ond troshbogs. So, that proves it. First of oil, disregard what we said on the first page about the new school being completed. Although there was o great deal of hard work pur into the building, the weather kept it from being completed before the end of the yeor. Some seniors soy. The class of '64 graduated from the old school, the class of '86 will graduate from the new school, ond the class of '85 will graduate from no school. This is not true. Although o building is essential to having o school, if does nor moke it whor ir is. Together, the students ond faculty or Blounrstown High School, with the three basic elements of pride, spirit, and loyalty, hove mode the school the success that it is.
