Corriea Director The 1951-52 season was one of numerous activities for the B. H. S. Band. From a nucleus of eight members the band grew to a marching membership Of forty headed by nine majorettes. This active organization performed a half-time show at each of the Tigers' football games -- both at home and away. At the Junior game between Bonifay and B'town the band also did a half-time show. Together with these activities, the band sold concessions at severalhome games. At Bristol, the band furnished the music for the dedication of Robertson's Field. Among some of its other activities were the numerous Pep Parades, escorting Governor Warren during his visit to Blountstown, participation in Chipola Junior Col1ege's Homecoming Parade and game, the l-la11owe'en Carnival concert, the Christmas Concert, and the concert at the B'town-Bristol basket- ball game. where the band played an array of Sousa Marches. Following this, the band went into serious rehearsal for the F. B. A. District VI Band Festival held at Tallahassee during March. The B. H. S. Band was one of twenty-four bands participating in this annual Spring event and it came through with flying colors. This was the first time the band had participated at Festival as a class CC band and it came home with the following ratings: Superior in Marching, Excellent in Sight-reading, and Good in Concert. Sgortly before Festival, the Lions and Rotary Clubs donated three new instruments to the band: an E Sousaphone, a French Horn, and an Oboe. These instruments have been badly needed and will aid the band greatly in the coming season. To show its appreciation to the afore-mentioned clubs, the band played at an exhibition basketball game and paraded, and gave an informal con- cert at a rummage sale -- both events being sponsored by the Lions and Rotarians to raise money to pay for the three instruments. At present, a dance band is being organized within the band to sponsor dances to raise money for the band fund. The band is also planning a series of informal get-togethers and concerts with the Altha, Wewa, and Port St. Joe Bands. We are happy to have been able to contribute to the general success of our high school ac- tlvities. 47 , I Catherine Peak Marjorie McClellan Mary Lou Spears Lalla Bailey Blanche Johnson Patricia Finlay Sylvia Neal -299 Sw he ' 7 if K r s 1 ' 5 E' F y via Peacock M, - , v 1 L' A Y M fk 4 S 0 p as-W' Hilda Clemmons Nannette Allgood Josie Hollington Ruth Sapp Carol Smith Mattie Lene O'Bryan Patsy Davis Joyce Nichols Julie Leonard Samme Redfern Christine Atkins 9' President Vice President Secretary Treasurer Reporter Parliamentarian Historian Song Leader Carolvn Griffin Joan Heal Yvonne Pelt Dorothy Haven Sara Williams Betty Ann McCaskill Sue Boggs Edna Wise Danny Peacock Agnes Wooten Sandra Eldridge P53410 0 were e Hrs? noon The Home-Making Department held its annual Fashion Show April 10, 1952, in the high school gymnasium.
